Right now the only mapping software I know of that works with Google Earth is Earth Bridge and it has serious limitations. Otherwise you have to use Google Earth's proprietary KMZ file format.
Are you familiar with entering and saving coordinates on Google Earth, if not I can show you if you want to give me a ring.

I was thinking you wanted to use your existing GPS coords on Google Earth in real time.
Do you guys have any plan to visit Dos Palmas? It's look like an interesting stop that is pretty much on the way.
Waterhole on the Old Bradshaw Trail - Dos Palmas
We are leaving Thursday around 11am and driving to the Salton Sea. Camping Thursday night around there, exploring the area Friday morning and then heading along the west end of Bradshaw to "the spot". Don't have one of those fancy radios like all you people but I'll have my lowly little CB on the designated ch38 if anyone wants to try to meet up.
I may be able to do this, let me know if you are interested in stopping by Dos Palmas?
Thanks - the only online help suggestion IIRC had me put a d in place of the degree symbol and that obviously didn't work either!
As I don't even know where Bradshaw is...yet, at least this will give me an idea and I can then pull my topo maps out!

Didn't even know about this spot. It looks really close to the Salton Sea park headquarters which would be a good spot for everyone to meet or at Dos Palmas and then head out.
If we can all make the timing work this would be fun.
That sounds like a plan.
BTW: On March 19th, a full moon will occur at around the same time it reaches its closest point to Earth in recent history. Rare planetary events such as this are often associated with above-normal tides, an increase in volcanic activity and more frequent earthquakes, according to astronomers.

Sure. Haven't planned yet, so we are open to whatever. Basically, we just want to do what I love best: sit around the campfire, sipping a nice beer, and relaxing.
I guess we should plan a Friday morning meeting point for maybe 11am or so. That way anyone leaving Friday early can make it. Whoever is there can then drive together over Bradshaw, via Dos Palmas, to the campsite.
That looks good Dan. Entering the State Park requires a pass or pay $10.00 to enter. There looks like a good place to park and air down just across the street from the park entrance. I marked it on the attached map as well as the coords for the intersection. I also spoke to the park ranger about Dos Palmas and he said they have just completed some extensive work on the area and it's looking good. I'm not sure if it is because of the road conditions (LOL), I didn't ask; but he said we would have to park about .75 mile away and walk in. I think if we enter from the north rather than the West we may get much closer without causing a problem.

Where are you coming from? Is the Friday traffic going to make 11:00 too early for some?
So is it safe to assume that's the plan? Meet there at 11am on Friday morning?

That sucks Boyd how about a Saturday night, Sunday run? I'll run out and meet you at the 10. Probably $90 bucks for gas though.... that's a lot of dough.
