Do wr have any estimate on how long the ride will be from the west trailhead to the campsite? I have only risen this stretch on a bike and have no idea what it will take in a truck.

Couple 2-3 hours maybe.. thats just a guestimate on my part. It's not that far. I've ran the whole trail in damn near half a day.

My band has a show in Anaheim the night of the 18th so we're planning on heading out Saturday morning. Is anyone leaving that late?

I'm currently trying to get out of my appointment for that morning so I can have the whole day off. It will make it flexible for me for an earlier time or any time the group caravan wants to meet up.

We still have a couple weeks to figure this out so that should be good.

Mapping it on google earth it is about 6-7 miles from the I-10 and about 24 miles from the Salton Sea side including the trek down the canal.

The I-10 seems like the way to go. If that's the case a day trip sounds doable.
