Question, Does anybody know of a reason why I couldn't adapt a 55 sway bar to my 60 axle. I'm having a heck of a time trying to fit the 60 sway bar around my big tank and the new 4+ ubolt flip kit. The shocks are going to get in the way, now.

Also anybody know why toyota changed the sway bar mounting, from top to bottom.

Thanks, Ron

Can't honestly speak from experience, but I don't see why it would be an issue. When I did my rx7 race car, I adapted the factory sway to the ford 9 inch I went with and didn't have any issues. Any reasons why you think there would be?

I just don't understand why toyota changed from mounting the sway bar to the body, to down on the axle. Which way works better? or is there no difference.

Ron, i highly doubt it would matter, i would stick with just welding some tabs on the axle.

Great info here on what works, what doesn't and what options are available if you decide to go down any path.

I was hoping we could add some "how to" to this thread. I searched, but didn't come up with much (neither here or the tech page). Mostly, "hey, would this work, or ... what did you use..." etc.

Anyone have any info or links I missed?

At the moment, I just want to flip the springs over the axles and slap some cheap/bald 37/39's up on my rig to get a better idea of where I'm headed with the build (won't be a driver for some time yet).

Since I'm only doing this for mach up purposes, can I just flip them as is? I plan on going to bigger axles when I make it a runner. Just want to see how everything will flow, so no changing mounts, leaf springs, outboarding, and all that jazz for a while.

Thanks in advance.

don't know if it would be good for the springs to be on the limited patch of axle. pick up your future perches and just set them on top of the axle with the springs on top. my front end is still sitting like that on the pickle. rear sat like that for years

???

Question for those of you who wheel relatively hard.

I would like the 55 to spend most of it's time in the rock and dirt. I've got the 100 for camping and some off-road duties until the 55 is complete.

So here's the question:

How big of tire can I go with 62 axles without constant fear of breaking something?

I went wheeling recently with some guys who had 14 bolts and 39's (FJ60 & a cool classic Bronco). Not sure I want to go that big, but would like to at least try to keep up. Sure looked like fun!

Thanks as always.

Cool. I was wondering about his setup.

Thanks once again Ige. For all this help, I'm going to have to drop off a coupe six packs to piglandia next time I'm up that way.

you just need to grab those six packs and take a vacation day and come up and hang with us ;)

I was laying in bed rolling everything in my head over about the 55. Then i thought, what does everyone do about the driveshaft situation? is there enough length to retain the stock length driveshaft? or is everyone getting the made a touch longer?

With a V8, 700R4 (overdirve) , 35 inch tires and 4.56 gears it rolls along great at 70 to 75 on the freeway. On mountain or curvy roads it will go faster than I feel comfortable do to body lean...yikes
