SOA FJ55 *Idiot guide* hopefully?

With a V8, 700R4 (overdirve) , 35 inch tires and 4.56 gears it rolls along great at 70 to 75 on the freeway. On mountain or curvy roads it will go faster than I feel comfortable do to body lean...yikes

Sounds like the set up I'm going for. Do you have a built thread or pics anywhere?

Thanks.

EDIT: A bit more thorough search and I found some pics. Looks good.

I have a quick question regarding SOA. How much articulation is there? What has been done with the bump stops?

After looking closely at both my pigs, I'm not sure how much the axle will actually move.

Dumb question? Probably, but I'm thinking one of my pigs would be a candidate for SOA and I want to be sure it will be worth the effort.

Thanks.

First of all, if your looking for articulation, disconnect your swaybars. Those are what are keeping your rear end somewhat tucked up and level. (disclaimer* i dont recommend driving on the streets with them disconnected) Most people change your lower mounting bolts to quick disconnects so they can drive to the trail safely and disconnect at the trail.

Going with a spring over you will get a bunch more articulation. however i would recommend disconnecting the sway bars and checking how much you have currently have. (you might be limited by your shocks also)

Articulation? Let me see if I can find a pic...
I don't run no stinkin' bumpstops.

Excellent replies thank you. Great pics too, very informative. Though I did notice you're running longer shackles up front.

Again, thanks for the quick responses.

My fj55 has no sway bars, front or rear. I don't I need them. Super stable on the mountain highways and in town. Lots of articulation before the spring over and even more after. Kept the stock bumpstops. I figured they have been on there for almost 40 years and they have earned their place.

Revised my OP since i now have done the SOA. Read page one if your just joining.

I know I'm a little late to the game, but awesome thread. Should have an FJ55 in my driveway in 2-3 weeks and plan on a diesel swap and SOA. This thread has been very informative.
