So I think the Michelin Defender is the perfect all-terrain tire... (For most of us) (24 Viewers)

You would think that going to the manufacturer is the best way 🤣 to know something ! I have checked Discount Tire for MS2, and same conclusion as my original post above. I am going to check Tirerack as suggested.

THX !

Edit: BTW, I just learned Tire Rack is now owned by Discountire ! How about the monopoly "law" in US ! 🤔😉

Edit #2: Searched Tire Rack, same results. It looks like it is what I saw yesterday.

Cheers

Michelin only shows about half to two thirds of the final sizes they will have for the MS2.

I think they update the site as new sizes are released. There will be around 53 sizes once fully released.

Thank you !

Well, a bit more research and found this. Now, I am having second thoughts and maybe will go for full 17"s Icons IN Bronze, with Ridge G !

🤦‍♀️🤣

(Nittos are $185 less w/o taxes than the Michelins, 🫣)

try the 295/70/18 defenders. I'm debating them with a minor rub on the kdss or going with the new falken wildpeak at4's 285/70/18 load range c(but still a heavy tire). decisions decisions

If you want to compete against the DT/TR Monopoly, I've had decent luck with www.tirebuyer.com
If you're not going to use one of their VIP trusted installers, I'd call the shop first to ask if they have any issues with Tirebuyer, as I did have one local shop that was a little weird about them, but they installed them just the same. Good news is they ship to the installing shop, so no need to haul tires around. They also seem to use the local tire distributors, as delivery is super fast, generally within a day for most tires.

Just ordered from Costco...
Defender LTX MS2
275/65R18 116T XL
5 tires $1,474:cry::eek:

I did get a mini lecture about not the same speed rating, etc.
I ordered set from Costco delivered and they wouldn’t install them because 10mm narrower than stock and speed rating only 118mph.
GMAFB.
Love Costco but this is absurd liability CYA

Just use that price as a negotiation elsewhere. Costco is so urban traffic.

Has anyone found a comparison between the MS2 and the LTX Platinum? They are expensive for sure but not that much more than the MS2 and if I am going to get new tires it will likely be one of these two.

Did Costco let you take the tires home?

So sorry.

at our local Costco, they installed them; didn't bat an eye. The size difference is not visually apparent.
Wife likes the ride better than the KO2's on the 80 & Taco.
Hope you get setup, somehow...

Yeah no big deal...just a wasted trip and wasted shipping for them x2

I'm leaning towards stepping up to the 33" 275/60/20 Defender MS2 instead of 31.9" 275/55 on stock 2013 LX rims.
Anyone have negative feedback about the 275/60s ride/fit on stock rims?

Thanks

Just got my Defender LTX M/S 2s (275/65R18) on my 2017 LC last week, along with swapping out the wheels for Tundra steelies. I was surprised it added 13 pounds per wheel. I was ESPECIALLY surprised that 8ish pounds of that was rubber not steel! Previous tire was a Michelin Latitude in 285/60R18.

Honestly, I'm not really sure if I can feel much difference due to the extra weight... maybe it feels a little bit harder to stay in Eco as I accelerate? MPG doesn't seem to be impacted based on one tank of gas. Not saying that it's not there, just that I'm not that observant. :) I'll keep an eye on it, and maybe swap back to stock rims or something new if I convince myself I need the weight back (the Defenders are staying!).

LT-metric? If so what load rating?

I have the Defenders in 275/60R20 on my 2016 LX. I have a 2016 LS460 for comparison and I think my LX rides really well. I upped the tire pressure to 36 psi and keep it comfort mode and am very happy with the ride. They fit just fine and don’t rub…I added a 0.75” spacer to bring back the steering geometry in line and it improved the handling but it caused a slight rubbing that took me 15 minutes to fix with a heat gun.

Let me know if you have any specific questions and I’ll be happy to answer them for you.
