So I think the Michelin Defender is the perfect all-terrain tire... (For most of us) (14 Viewers)

VERY beautiful truck and pic too ! 👌🏾💯
Those are Michelin Defender LTX? What trails did you do at Hidden Falls? Did you do 5 diamonds ones ? The BFG's TKo's starting to give up, and thinking about 'em LTX... Hidden Falls is a good proxy... !

Thank you !

Thank you!

No way I am doing the 5 Diamond -- even with more rugged tires I don't have the nerve or talent to do them alone. Not to mention, I don't think my truck could handle them as-is. Maybe some day! I stuck to the 2 and 3 diamond trails.

Thank you ! Well, 3 seems about what I would do too, regardless of tire ! 😂. But great to know the Michelin can handle up to 3 👌🏾🔥

Edit: wait ! Your truck has everything: bumper with winch, and sliders ... What else would you want / need !? Go for them ! You are ready !🔥🔥👌🏾👌🏾

Wait ! 🔥🔥🔥.
These are Icon Vector 5 Satin black, correct ? That is exactly what I am thinking to do... Now deciding on the tire as I have been BFG TKO 2 lover forever (with some Duratracs now and then and some Nittos too) , but that looks awesome with your set up !!
Titanium.

Thank you. Oh, ok. Those look lighter, than the satin black, correct? Thanks 🙏🏾
Yes. They are like an industrial gun metal grey.

LC-fam !

Q: has anyone used these for say at least two years ? We have a saying back home, "new broom sweeps wonderful" 😂 or something like that. Anyways, would be good to hear from folks that had the tires for say 1.5 to two years.

A ton of people have rolled the Defenders over 70k miles and had no major increase in noise or reduction in performance. There isn't a noticeable drone that often accompanies high-mileage AT tires.

How do these compare to ko2s or anyone who has the new ko3s? I’m debating between these tires or ko3s on my rock warriors next

I don't have KO3s, but I do have KO2s. I have respect, unlike most, for BFGAT.

LTXMS is:
  1. Is much quieter,
  2. Longer treadlife,
  3. Subjectively better in packed snow; subjectively worse in deep snow.
  4. Objectively better in sand,
  5. Objectively worse in mud.
  6. Look lame as hell. Need big cojones to run them.

6k miles on these. Notice the mold marks and lines not even worn away yet.

Something no one has mentioned yet is the lack of a rim protector on the Defender LTX M/S2. Are rim protectors just a gimmick?

I am currently running the Continental TerrainContact AT's on my 07 F350 DRW and it is time for a new set. I got over almost 60k out of the front tires before I swapped in a new spare and a warranty tire (picked up a large bolt in the tire that made it unrepairable). The rear duals still have about 7/32" left on them but the Conti's are out of stock until January 20. The rears are making some noise on grooved pavement but have worn perfectly. The front tires are already getting some heel toe wear and need to be rotated but are super quiet. The Contis are not the best riding tire and are a super stiff ride on my dually. So, I just ordered a set of the Defender LTX M/S2 for the 1 ton and they should arrive this weekend. This post was the one to convince me to buy them. I've read Scott's other posts and those piqued my interest.

All of the truck camper folks at lanceowners.org rave about the Defender LTX M/S and swear by them. That has helped me decide to finally fork out the $330/each for 6 tires (ouch!). The Conti is so mild that I expect no loss of performance but a smoother and quieter ride. I know its not an LC but I thought I'd weigh in, anyway, since I am about to join the Defender LTX M/S2 club.

anyone got a 16+ that is running these with a 2-3" lift? got RidgeGrapplers right now and wanting to switch to a less aggressive tire. thinking KO2 or these. wanted to see what these look like with a lift

Just ordered from Costco...
Defender LTX MS2
275/65R18 116T XL
5 tires $1,474:cry::eek:

I did get a mini lecture about not the same speed rating, etc.
Costco tire/battery lectures are my favorite. Especially concerning SLA vs AGM batteries. I have since stopped telling them what vehicle and instead saying "I need a group xx AGM (or SLA) battery, do you have one?"

Does anyone know from their contact or some source the original defender sizes will be made into defender 2? I am seeing the ms2 selection increase by a few sizes each month. But still waiting for the 21” 275/50. If possible
