Its a 40 minute drive, I'll be there in 10... I wish. Have a few last minute things to pack up like ice and beer. Gotta stop for fuel and a bite to eat. I'll be on 146.46 going through Stockton about 1230. Got candy for you Kathy, Walmart was running a 50% off sale.

Latest on repeaters towards the south

OK, I did some checking on the air.

Here is what I was told:

both the

Santa Ynez Peak Repeater on 145.180 PL131.8 W6YJO
and
Broadcast Peak repeater on 147.000 (also 131.8)

are on the air at full power.

Both are at about 4000' on the coastal ridge and should cover a good portion of both North and South Santa Barbara County.

I'm told the coverage should extend roughly from the Camarillo / SF valley all the way up to SLO.

So with a bit of luck it should cover Pismo beach and Pozo from LA given that the coast turns south around Malibu.

Anyway, these 2 are probably good to use on the way up.

It's unclear to me which of the 2 is more powerful. Maybe somebody could do some digging, but I'm OFF shortly :D!!!

added: for the record, I tried both repeaters from the beach in Pismo and was able to connect to both. Very clear on 50W, little noisy on 5W...

I must be cursed

by the Cruiser Gods, all this work in the past 2 weeks preparing for this trip (Rebuilding carb and tie rod ends) has come to sad end. Yes i will not be making this trip :crybaby::frown: again the carb didn't turn out the way it should be and plague w/ problems on top of that my wife's grandma was hospitalized this wednesday night due to some internal bleeding and was given only days to live due to her age (92). we'll be visiting her at a nearby hospice were she is cared for until the time comes.

Jim, please mail my stuff after the event just let me know on the cost and no rush. Thanks again for this wonderful event that you work so hard to make it happen. maybe next year will be different. have fun you guys.

Just finished packing and ready to head out! Leaving at 10am from San Jose area.

Packing up now. Quick run into work for a photo for a press release followed buy picking up some supplies. Once the girlfriend is done with class we are headed up.

Plan on reaching camp right around sunset.

Bummer deal! Sorry for the hard times! Best of wishes!

Just finished up the SF firefighter exam packing up the car now and waiting on the wife to get home in an hour and hit the road!!!!!

Just finishing packing...should be on the road in an hour. For those approaching from the south around the same time, look for a dune beige FJ40 with a Paki-Top.

Amaurer and I are headed out tomorrow morning around 7am... unless someone can explain the joys of arriving and setting up at around 10/11pm, I could be tempted.

In either event, look for two 82 BJ42s with steering wheels on the wrong side of the truck. :flipoff2:
