OK, this brings up a question: If I want to install this bumper, what type of lift would I need to bring it back up to stock height or a bit higher. I would like to go to larger tires.... nothing drastic, but a bit larger and those will be purchased and installed in Aug '09. I am not as much of a rock climber as Shotts is, but I would like a bit more clearance.

That's a whole 'nother subject however here I can say that you shuld swap out T-bars to heavier-duty ones in order to support the new added weight. You can set them for the same height or add lift. Then you could add lift to the rear to match.

That's a whole 'nother subject h

But a part of this topic - Aftermarket options. The fact that we, as owners and not mechanics or structural engineers (no offense to any structural guys out there) are looking at these options, we need to think about how it will affect the existing equipment or ride and be prepared to have additional mods to support our brand new (toys?) front (or rear) bumper.

As for me, when I do make a switch from my OEM equipment, I want to be sure that I don't damage something else by overloading the vehicle components, while trying not to overload my wallet.

Thanks for the insight, John. I do appreciate knowing what other items I need to be looking at, at the same period that I add this bumper.

After being on a different thread for a bit, I was wondering if the bar that goes over the winch reaches out beyond the lower portion of the bumper. I am thinking of how this bumper would be affected by a front end collision. The bumper, as a whole, is extremely stout. I am wondering if that bar would have a tendency to snap off? Any thoughts?

They are clear zinc plated for corrosion protection. They can easily be painted. Other than powder coat I have not found a black corrosion resistant coating. Powder coat won't work in this application. I till just chip and the leave rust prone spots.
Rust Bullet + BlackShell would do it, without chipping, or rusting.

i'm also wondering what the price point will be....

How far away are we from the knowing the price.....Do we have to wait for Santa :o))

I want one too...do you accept pre orders :o))))

any idea on time frame and price?

This waiting game never ends .....

this thread has only been viewed 17,000 times... there is clearly no interest...

17001 and counting.... yep, no interest.

I'm about ready to yank my TJM and start cutting and grinding on it! And to think I've been holding out for a new Slee front bumper ;p

I am currently on vacation, but the pre-production model that was on my truck has been removed and send back to the fabricators so that the jigs can be made and the final tweaks resolved. We had to make a small change so that it interfaces with the skid plates better.

I know it is slow, but that is the nature of the game. That is one of the big reasons we do not take pre-orders or announce pricing until we are ready.

Vacation?! I didn't think they let you take a vacation :D

Cover plate would be a nice addition. One that you can actually take off if necessary. Also prevents people to see what kind winch etc you have there.

I'll be the first one in europe to drive around with that bumper.... ;)

Also France is a pretty big market for you.

I was able to see the latest version of both the front and rear bumpers yesterday at the Rising Sun Rally. Talked to Christo for a while about them and the bottom line is that they are getting close.

He has some tweaks to make on the front bumper...most notably where his front skidplate will attach to the bumper. Other than that it looks like the pictures on the last page.

The rear has the tire/hi-lift carrier on the right side and on the left swing arm is a ladder with attachment points for other accessories (ex. jerry can holder). The latch is being re-worked in the future (can't remember the details) but I was kind of liking the one he has on there now. It is a bit chunky but I was impressed on how easy it was for my wife to open and close it....she really hated how difficult the old latch was on our previous LC.

They are getting close.

Rear bumper

Hey Christo you ever gunna lower the price of your existing rear bumper alittle:cheers:

The process of making them isnt cheap. But dont let him think you're going to buy a rear bumper until your slee front one. Make him work for his money(for a change ;))

No update on this in over two weeks. Is Slee on vacation again?
