Huh? OK so the bolts are on the other side.. I guess this is the cool way now.. 5.9 common rail Cummins. 2005 flavor

Nope, thankfully. The original was replaced. The upgrade from this would be a dual clutch... $1000+++.. I am trying to figure out the make of this one the part number doesn't Google.. it has 8 bolts that bolt through a type of flex plate.. strange design..

How's this for cylinder damage, cracked ring made its way on top of the piston and carved a chunk out of the wall... Everything else looked fine.. These Cummins are beefy!..

There are chunks of magnetic ring chunks stuck in the piston.. The PO said he hydrolocked it but the exhaust brake this motor had probably was the cause... I have talked to 3 different owners whose motors lost a cylinder due to exhaust brakes...

Anyone else doing the gambler this year? We just picked up our second car! 76 Olds 98 and a 79 Olds cutlASS.

Took the kids to Salt Lake for spring break, museum’s, Zoo’s, Golden Spike National Park and such. Paid a visit to cruiser outfitters and got
a little work done while I was there. Amazing in the difference it made.

CAUTION: non-toyota content!!!

I have never tinkered with non-toyota 4x4 stuff. This is a NP271D&F mix I am working on. I have always thought the chain concept was weak, but after looking this design over it's very beefy and achieves a lot of strength and is relatively light weight. The planetary gear reduction is pretty cool and the shift fork system is simple and effective. I am impressed that with 215000 on the Ford unit and 150-200,000 on the Dodge unit there are no significant wear issues. I swapped the Dodge input shaft into the Ford unit so hopefully the planetary part doesn't growl due to different gears.

I would have swapped the complete planetary unit but the outermost gear is pressed into the housing and I thing it will only engage in 4wd..
Definitely different than the LandCruiser stuff. It's cool that I don't have to put an adapter in between the tranny and t-case in my Ford/Cummins combo.

Isn't there some other forum you should be posted this stuff on? 😉 Interesting indeed.
