theres a shytload to be made on these dc trucks. looks like i can buy decent trucks for roughly 5-8k and they are bringing five figures every day stateside
SA trucks through 95ish. appears all the Hilux stuff is diesel. 70 series are still ridiculous here.
we went for a ride with our air b&b landlord in his 15 hilux. bare bones truck. still has an ashtray and cigarette lighter, crank windows. no airbag and probably no evap bs. our rental is a manual trans, no clutch safety nanny. (don't tell doug

that one turned out to be a bust. guy was slimy and was basically a straight up liar.
i don't mind dealing with a tiny bit of nonsense in the whole fb thing, i don't however tolerate lying to my face.
anyway i blew it on pics. there was another one there as well. it was likely just as jank

in actuality the hilux prices are still kind of dumb here considering.
4runner/surf are about half the price for the most part. problem being, a lot of them are shoddy rhd to lhd conversions.
if i can't score a decent lux for a fair price, i will likely try to get into what they call land cruiser 2 here. Basically a first gen Prado. maybe a manual 80.

Well, did they at least use masking tape? So many problems can be solved when keeping people from touching things..
wire terminals and butt connectors aren't really a thing here. twisted wires and tape.

Morning strangers. Been a while! My friend Mike with the ‘97 80 is dealing with some serious issues. Besides the fact that both he and his wife have serious cancer, his 80 engine blew yesterday. The engine has a warranty, reman, but he has to have it diagnosed before they will pay out. He is strapped so would rather sell as is. Body is in great shape and straight, interior is good and not locked. Could you guys give me an ideal of what he may be able to get for it?

A question that may make a difference to some and none to others. Is that warranty on the engine transferrable? My guess is probably not, but if so, that may yield a touch more for someone
Good question. I'll ask him. He said the shop that installed the engine is in Newburg because that is where the HG blew. I have asked him to check with the warranty company to see if a local shop can diagnose. I'll update when he replies.
I read the warranty. Original owner is covered. I am having him collect his install and Maint records to present to the warranty company. If I have to tow it up to the shop who did the work I will. Fairly certain a running '97 450lx is worth far more than non running.
