Hey guys,

I'm also debating about a roof rack on my fj55. I'll probably go wilderness rack because they a reasonable to ship and I had one on my 60 once. BUT... half length or full. Usually I'd say full but I'm thinkin' that the half rack might be kinda cool if it's placed just slightly front of center on the roof. Just love the lines of the 55 roof and the full rack covers them up. Any pics that people have of short or long racks on 55's would be most appreciated.

Ideas and opinions are also welcome.

my 55 w/o rack

Oh here is a pic of my cruiser as it sits right now! Definitely needs a rack.

Holy *%$#@ LC_Hamma!!! That's one hell of a roof rack!!

I'd be a jackass and post a pic of my stock roof rack on my fi'ty-five but I don't have a good one. I like the Safari rack, it's what I have on my 40.

Here are a couple pics of the rack that was on my Pig when I bought it. Now I use Yakima towers and bars when I need to carry a canoe or long pieces of lumber.

I had a Yakima rack first, it carried a lot of stuff but did not survive the first west coast Pigrun.
Found a used Conn-Fer rack and welded some expanded steel in for a floor (instead of the old plywood). Then Herculined it to match my Pig. I carried the spare up there for a while but didn't like the weight so far up in the air.
If you're going to buy a rack, might as well go full-size.

Would rather not repost anymore pics from my buildup thread ;p Got another pic or two in there.... :hillbilly:

Ah, I must not have have taken the time to look at the rack pics, but I have been through your thread................back to look again.

Thanks guys! I just measured my cruiser in the garage and it barely fits w/ the new lift. I don't think it will clear w/ a rack. I really just wanted the rack for a spare location, lights, and high lift mount. Maybe I could acheive most of that w/ a new front bumper and brush gaurd...put the spare on a swing away rear.

What's everyone think? Nat, where can I get a bumper like yours?

I think that was the old Man-a-Fre bumper...

Once I got a lift and 33s my rig won't go in the garage with the rack on either. It barely made it in with the stock setup. So the rack goes on in the summer, off in the winter...

My cruiserf wouldn't fit in the garage with a roofrack installed either. So I'm moving.

:flipoff2:

My first hello to my Oregon pig bretheren. I'll be seeing you soon once I get settled.

Jeremy

Sweet, where in Oregon are you moving to?

Oh, and welcome to Oregon. :)

I've got a pretty stock looking Con-Ferr. It weighs a lot.

Kinda thinking of widening it out to the gutters somehow...

I also want to find some more attachment feet, 4 is just too few:frown:

Another Pig Rack

This is the rack that came with my pig. It fits a 4x8 materials well. I'd like to put some expanded steel in the bottom when I get time and money. Original owner of my pig allegedly had this made for camera equipment s(he) hauled. The back part folds down for easy removal of crap. Nice lightweight design. Sorry I don't have a better pic.

Pighead, that Pig in the middle pic looks like it is ready to roll - was it close?
