Can I inbox you about how you custom made your shackles?
I just need to know how did you do your math.
No problem, though I did not create any algorithmic equations or anything fancy... just some old-fashioned measuring tape, trial and error with spring compression testing and measuring again and again. I wanted a bit of rake in the back so made the shackles a little longer to give me an extra half an inch in the back.

If you are maintaining a stock suspension, then the direct replacements (no lift) greaseable shackles are what you want.

To revive an old thread, has anyone heard that springs can potentially break if you take out leaves?
My '89 FJ70 had some very stiff Ironman springs when I bought it, so I replaced them with the softest OME kit available (springs and shocks). It was still too stiff, so I replaced the shackles, which helped, but still quite stiff.
So, I'm considering to remove one leaf (front and rear), but one shop seemed concerned that it would affect the integrity of the spring pack.
I don't off-road very hard, mostly just camping trips in the mountains.
Thanks everyone!
