Just an idea, while you have the liner out spray something into the ( roof layers?) all along the top edge. Something to help stop the rust growing in the multi layers up there. Now is the time to do it. With the long tube applicator you can stick it all in there and coat as much as possible.

Absolutely! I do not want rust to ever be an issue with this pig again.

That’s a great idea! I want this pig to last rust free for a few years. For sure.

I had read somewhere on this site that the door attachment points could be a weak point. Mine has doublers in there… is that something Toyota added in later years? Mine is a 76.

I almost feel like the Toyota engineers didn't want the Pigs to live long lives...
They sure didn’t know anything about rust prevention, so many multilayered rust traps 😕

Safety tip... Clamp those two arms when taking out the motor, they are under some heavy pressure and will get a finger. Hope your gear looks good, with changing it out being such a pain, I'd put a new one in now just because.

Are the gears available? I saw them sold out a couple places. 🤔

I got a gear from Shapways. They sent it in a reasonable time. Got it in about a week. I went with the nylon

Stock ones are nylon I assume? To not wear out the ones they mesh with?
I think, so it would fail if someone or something important was in the window being crushed. That is the popular opinion.

mine was in similar condition. Wonder what material you'll go with?

I’d prefer metal but nobody seems to be in stock. The printed ones look great but has anybody used one for 10 years yet? Nylons ones obviously lasted 50 years, but are they the same?

Blasting day! No major hidden disasters but plenty of small hidden issues. The interior front area had about 1/8” of hard as rock liner. Some pretty poor rust repair exists under there, so after some further, proper repairs it’ll prolly get lined again to hide the areas, but there will at least be no rust holes left at all.
