Toss in a nice Rib Eye, medium rare for my trouble and I'll consider it

Don't think for a second that this vegan is such a douche bag that I would not cross that line for my Tofudebeest. But, knowing that there are more than 3,000 miles between us, you just took an opportunity to poke the veggie.

You are looking for a buyer to give you way more than it is worth so you don't loose any money on your "learning experience".

Generally, I don't loose money, I lose it. I guess selling lots of strombolis and pretzels might give one loose money. Oh, I almost forgot, bite my ass crack, baldy.

TURNMEOVER has stepped up to the plate! Looks as though Tofu goes down to Ocala to stay for a few weekends at his place. The call for help is still valid though, especially for wiring and diesel-specific knowledge.

"Slow work" would require some energy expenditure and implies movement (work = force applied over a distance). So far, said work amounts to a bunch of phone calls, PMs and these Mud postings. The only actual movement I've made lately involves porcelain, some entertaining sounds and the eviction of a tenant who was bothering the neighbors. Impressive, I assure you. See my avatar? I was making a similar face. When I pull the Gojo out from under the sink, then you can deduce actual Landcruiser-related work has commenced...

How's that for Tech talk, Euclid?

hit turnmeover up

you should see the 40 he built!

He also knows a guy who restores them in Ocala.......

Seriously...

try

TURNMEOVER

I have seen his work and it is NICE!

He isn't too far away from you either.

GOOD LUCK!

Thanks mel for the good words.

Brian It is my pleasure to get your truck running. Look foreward to seeing you truck in the garage this saturday. I will do my best to get it back to you as soon as possible.( in running order )

This is a classic example why there is nothing else like the Landcruiser community.
Humbling...

The Left side is useable, the Right, not so much, the divider/gasket track rusted into two pieces. You'll need new weather strips. I have the main windows (I believe) and the L vent window assembly, but I'll check.

They suck, you realize? Their novelty is only surpassed by their noisiness. I can see their utility in a truck with no A/C, but otherwise, pretty useless.

i don't have a/c.. ;)

No real pics to post of the progression but here is a list .
As a note : all work was assisted by brian but I will more then likely refer to all procedures as "I".

well first thing I did was replace the 62 harness. Then with the assistance of the FSM wiring schematics I paitently pulled the following componets from the Hj60 harness. The EDIC was the first to come out then I followed up by removing the glow plug system Which thankfully it was not the super glow and it was the fixed delay type which is much easier system to work with. After carefully and painfully routing the wires through the dash cavity I left provisions for the glow light, fuel filter light and the ? ( there is another I am just drawing a blank). We installed the fuel tank , Clutch assembly and bent new clutch lines. Next we pulled the oil pan to regasket it as it leaked(I hate cork gaskets).

The only problems I am having is with the tach and the back up lighst. Can any one tell me where the 3fe tach wire plug is and the color as with the back up lights also.

Hope fully tofu will be under her own power next weekend. Hurricane IKE willing.

Dont be all intimidated by the 60 harness. The glow system only neesds some power applied. If you strip the harness down and follow and weed out all the unneccissary wiring you wwill find that the system is self contained and only requires a switched input and a few grounds. It is quite simple provided you are capable of ignoring all the xtra stuff in the harness that is not related to the glow system and can understand the wiring diagrams.

As far as the EDIC is is also self contained and the system is quite simple provided you graft the correct wires to the proper inputs. The edic required power on from the ig circut , Switched power from the start circut, Constant power , Ground, and info from the oil pressure switch.

As far as the alt/charge circut goes that was also quite simple.
The 62 had a internally regulated alt. Where as the 60 was externially regulated. Thankfully to the simplicity of toyota all the wire colors for the operating systems Has for the most part remained the same , As I studied the plug and wires from the 62 , And the voltage regulator from the 60 I determined (With the help of the wire dig) that by removing the plug from the 62 harness and replacing it with the plug from the 60 harness that the externially regulate system will adapt quite simpally.

The hardest part so far is finding the location and colors of the conectors for the tach on the 62. And the same for the bu lights. As this vehical was a auto tranny.

Keep in mind that I did not start this build and nor have I desicrated the 60/62 prior to this weekend. So therefore I have no recolection of where or how the oem systems were installed. Nor to this month have I ever seen the under side of a 62 hood to this extreme. I am a real good mechanic but I have limited cruiser experience . So the extreme wealth of knowledge contained in this sit is needed to finish the little things.

As usual, I am indebted to fellow Landcruiser fans in ways I know I'll never fully be able to repay. Fortunately, Turnmeover (D) has had the time, patience and knowledge to get this project back in high gear. In the two Saturdays and a half-Sunday we've wrenched, the progress has been impressive. Having the wiring 95% done is a real motivator...

On the list remains the following jobs (though I am sure I'll leave many things out), in roughly this order:
*complete the back-up light and tach wiring. (D)
*trim and loom the harness so it looks nice and purdy.(D)
*complete the clutch lines and mount the slave line stop to the firewall. (B&D)
*replace the fuel injection pump diaphragm and gasket. (B)
*swap out (?) the key cylinder/ignition glow module (D) and eventually rekey the whole vehicle).
*replace the twin side cover gaskets.(B)
*cap the fuel tank pick-up unit return nipple (unit from an FJ60 - no return necessary in the diesel) and cap the fuel breather loop return nipple. (B)
*fill up with B100. (some bitch)
*refill coolant, clutch fluid. (B)
*modify indicator light panels for glow, filter and ?, and reinstall instrument cluster and a/c, switch and ashtray console. (B)
*see if the idler shaft can be pushed back into the transfercase (it is out about 1/8")and lock-tite the idler shaft tab bolt so that this thing does NOT back out again. (B)
*if not, rebuild transfer case again (yay!) (Mel Lowe, D&B)
*reinstall console, seats, flooring, etc. (B)
*service/rebuild the knuckles, inner axle seals and hubs (oily leak running down one of the tires from the hub), as needed. (B&D)
*rig up a second battery tray, ground and lead. (D)
*inspect brakes, replace as necessary. (B&D)
*obtain exhaust flange lead gasket, reinstall the exhaust downpipe, have remainder of exhaust bent up and installed, with hangers. (B)
*install Sheila's windshiled in a new chromeless weatherstrip. (Mauldin's Auto Glass)
*have a new a/c hose made using two exisiting hoses, convert the a/c system and refill with refrigerant. (?)
*repair rear tail lens and metal from when we smashed the asses of Tofu and the 40 together(!). (?)
*respray entire vehicle and pressure steam clean seats, door panels and headliner. (?)
*fab a new front bumper (D&B) or get Tofu's bumper back from Mel Lowe...

What am I missing???:wrench::wrench::wrench:
