Yeah, that was to provide backing for the duct tape over the last year. She was screwed already.

Ah, okay. I know that Alfa Romeo used foam in the early 70's in the Alfasud as insulation and stiffening. And when was the last time anyone saw one???

Had fun working on your junk....

I only helped out 1 day, but it felt like 2.

Um, you leave my "junk" outta this. You ain't my type anyhow. But, your help was much appreciated. Come and get yer chromies whenever you like. Al's got the fuel pick up I need, BTW, I just have to cap the return line.

<<< Nice Work Mate! >>> , i waiting for the final HJ-62 pic`s, good luck...

:beer::cheers:

Thank you, thank you...

I would not hold my breath waiting though...

I have to fab and install clutch hard lines,
jigger a glow system,
swap the ignition and door locks, (s***, Al, you got those door locks or do I have to tear apart my shed and look for 'em?)
splice together two A/C hoses,
wire up the starter and relay (I have to make an extension),
put in a new starter ground,
replace the fuel sending unit,
install the fuel tank and hoses,
wire up the cabin,
splice in power window, mirror and lock provisions as well as front and rear side marker lights onto the HJ60 harness from the 62 harness (Sheila had none of those).
Then I have to reinstall the interior including dash, seats and console,
cut a hole in the tranny cover for the stick,
replace the oil pan gasket,
the fuel pump gasket and diaphragm and the transfercase gaskets.
I have to recharge the A/C,
put in new coolant, power steering fluid and clutch fluid.
black out my mirrors, vents, grille, headlight housing, window frame and sills (and reinstall),
install my 3" OME lift springs,
prolly get new shocks,
respray or do the Herculiner thing (including hood, roof, fennders, rockers, tailgate, interior...).

And I am sure I'm forgetting at least another dozen to-dos and there are always "surprise, bitch" jobs.
That will keep me busy for quite some time still...

I'm discussing this build on the local cruiser site (North Florida Cruiserheads) run by lowtideride as well:
Project Tofudebeest

And Henry and Paul, seems you fellas were right. I got to looking more closely at the in-dash components and pretty quickly realized that 90% of the connections would not mate up. The 62 harness will go back in and what I need from the HJ harness will come over, not the other way around. Joy.

Anyone see any harm in letting redrustbucket pull the EDIC relay from that harness? He's got another 62 harness at his disposal (not locally) from which he can get what he needs...

Im slighty confused ( nothing new )...

and I am sure you could make either harness work.

But here is my logic on this so take it with a grain of salt...

Since you moved everything from the HJ over you should be using the HJ harness. The only things you should be connecting are what they orignally came from, So everythings should just hook back up. I know the HJ harness is flipped so you would have to lenghen each wire to make it work(under the hood). Not hard just a little time consuming and that would only have to happen under the hood.

What are the things that would not connect? In the cab?

You should have swapped over your HJ gauges into your fj62 bezel. So no connections would have not changed there.

All the fj62 wiring harness runs into the ECU which you dont need anymore becuase it doesnt control the engine or emissions.

The only things you need to worry about later would be a/c and power window ( small and the last things you should be worring about)...

Again this is just how I would approach it, take it or leave it brohiem...

So far, only one connector under in the dash mates up, the rest not, and I'm not even over to the instrument cluster side of things yet.

You can't use all of the interior electronics from the diesel truck?

Thats excatly what I mean. You should have just moved everything over.

What is not connecting?

Did you swap the HJ stuff over to the fj62 bezel (tac, speedo, etcetc)???

I found it easiest to use all the HJ stuff, i.e. instrument cluster, motors, blowers, switches, etc. and the HJ harness... I also might have just picked up a spare HJ harness if you would like it for extending wires, connectors, etc....

I'm getting directly contradictory information from several sources. I will take photos and post up this weekend.
Wayne, mighty "good on ya" to offer up that harness. I *may* take you up on it, but for now, I have to figure out what's what, and that may take some time. "I'm a lawyer/biologist, not a mechanic, Jim!"

Yulp, I know that. I was just stating the route I would take which seems the easiest. You know all that stuff from the Hj harness works with the HJ stuff becuase thats where it came from

again just my 2 cents speaking...
