Windows are back in and we also have a new windshield. They ARE available as the glass shop sourced this one starting in September. I need to finish up with the rear view mirrors and visors and other stuff on the roof. Then I'll need to get rid of the wrinkles with a hair dryer or kettle or whatever works.

I'll even try getting the dual dome light done here soon. I have two options. Two lights operated from the front (easiest as I have all the parts now) or two individually operated lights if I could find another dome light base with a good light switch (preferred option but it's tough finding one good dome light base let alone two).

It should not be that hard to fix the broken switch on your dome light, then you can wire it so it can be slaved to the front (the "switched" position) or independent.

Is that the SOR headliner?

Do you mind posting pics of how the headliner is laying at the upper, forward corners of the cargo windows? Is it a tight fit up there?

Thanks!

PS: Do you mind me asking how much your windshield was?

Yes, it's the SOR headliner. The dome switch handle is broken off. I'll snap a few more pics of the headliner. I was tied up today doing other things so I'm not totally finished the headliner yet.

As for the windshield price, I have NO idea. It's covered under the insurance and they bill direct to the insurance co. I don't see the bill, just $200 deductible.

The headliner is in, except for shrinking it. I need to find my heat gun or hair dryer. I got a second dome light with a switch so now I have a dome light front AND rear both individually operated.

Got a pic of the forward and of the cargo windows as well but like I said, it's not yet shrunk tight.

Hopefully I can find the heat gun here in the next few days and get it 100% on the headliner.

I like how the dual dome lights look. I picked up a second dome light a few months ago and I am doing the same thing when I put my headliner in.

It's more than just the dome light. You need the extra support too. The one that holds the dome light that you can see in this post https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj55-iron-...otm-cruiser-guy-guatemala-12.html#post5952357 I picked it out of the scrap when restoring my '55 way back when. If you look at your roof supports you'll see you have half the supports I have.

I finally got the invoice for the windshield. I pay the deductible but it shows a windshield cost of $256.59 and a part number of FW00326BTN. I don't know if that's an internal code for the part or an actual part number. It does not show a supplier. The manufacturer is something like Vaschon??

Excellent work on the rear dome light... it will definitely come in handy when your wife asks you to do those late night grocery runs and you have to unload the back of your 55 in the dark:doh:

Looking forward to seeing that headliner finished up!

Good news to know the windshield is available somewhere, mine has a huge crack in it and will have to be replaced as well.

Nice work Charles

The windshield was done at Speedy Auto Glass here in Cranbrook in case you can't find anyone there who can get it.

Canadian only?

I thought that was "Canadian EH?"

Seriously, I don't know. Ask them and see what they say.

I got it rustproofed in the nick of time. We've been dumped on with snow since Tuesday. Probably a good 12" of this crap.

Hello,

I am currently swapping an isuzu 4bd2t in the 55. The piggy is a 1979 model. Can you tel me you max speed and rpm with your current set up?

Thank you

Mauricio

I'd rather answer the PM here so everyone can benefit.

Currently I am running 3.7 axles, 33"x9.5"x15" BFG AT's the H41 low range tranny and a three speed transfer case.

I have not had the truck fast enough to redline in 4th gear, that would be a little scary in a lifted '55! I have been to around 70mph and it handled just fine (the speedo is about 16% low according to the highway milepost markers due to the bigger tires and taller axle gearing). I'll guess my RPM's at around 2700 at that speed (the tach has only been operational for 6 months or so and I normally drive at 55 or so where my RPM's are down at about 2200 - 2300).

parts

Some more bits and pieces to make this piggy 100%. The slider knobs so I can slide the sliders without nearly poking holes in my finger tips.

I'm still looking for the drivers side that matches this one. If anyone has any leads I'd appreciate it (no speaker holes please).

Charles,

Come to think of it, all this that you request may be in Edmonton.
I'll have a look once exams finish up for me.

Cheers

Let me know when you find out.

Charles,
I searched the garage...
Only to find out that the dash was sold in October and the door never came with an interior panel.
Good luck with your search for parts.

Thanks for trying. I'll eventually find all the parts (I hope).

Took the piggy out for a drive to the coast. A friend of mine will "piggy sit" while we are off in Sierra Leone. Here's a few pics on the drive.
