Looking for a few seat ideas for my build. I have an 1980 40..and doing a resto-mod on. Wanting some nice seats, that allow me to sit further back, and a tad higher. Any custom brackets, options welcomed, as well as after market. Just need some inspiration in general. I will not be running any kind of rear seat in my rig as I will be building more storage in the rear…more of an overland rig.

Any insights, pics with links, etc welcomed. Thanks in advance all.

Most convertible seats have built in seat belts if that may help. Chrysler Sebrings are popular swap. Short and tall. BMW are nice as well but a little larger overall that may not be ideal if planning a ctr console.

Bill (cumminsceuiser) makes a great frame. Wish I had not sold mine. Makes mounting seats a good bit easier than dabbing up feet.
Do you have the stock seats?
Can sell or rob the feet and slides to mount to.

Lots of people use the procar rally seats or corbeau. I used BMW seats with the frame above, but it took some custom brackets and removing the sliders to get them as low as I wanted with the gas tank in the cab (1970.)

I did PRP Daily Drivers in mine. Them being a suspension seat and having the little bit of extra containment in the hips makes them super comfortable on long days. My one gripe (and a major one at that) is that the material is already falling apart. I’ve had them 3 years now and the trucks not a daily driver, don’t carry knife in back pocket, etc… and the seat is ripping. I did the tweed for breathability but it just can’t handle the California sun. That being said, any good suspension seat is a great upgrade over the factory seats.

I did procar 90’s in mine. Inexpensive and a direct swap with the OE sliders.
with my OE seats, I made a bracket/mount/extender thing to slightly raise and allow for the seat to go farther back. I made these using unistrut.

73-78 if the fuel tank was pulled and aftermarket fuel tank moved to the back had far more options of aftermarket seats. The depth of the bottom was not an issue. 1/79 the tub is directly under the seats. If you have a thick base it reduces the space between the seat and steering wheel. The accelerator pedal location isn't the best on long drives. Anything that limits seat adjustment isn't going to help.

I used first gen Miata seats on a custom frame. Their bottoms are comparatively flat, they have a decent high back, and the factory seat mounts are easy to work with. Bonus - you can get upholstery for them reasonably and they were not hard to cover.

No new seat info but I had some 1 1/4" steel tubing laying around. Made two rails for the drivers seat and attached them to the existing driver seat floor brackets. The rails extend about 2" off the back of the driver seat rear brackets. I was able to push the drivers seat back the 2" and it raised it up the 1 1/4". Parts are off getting painted but the driving position felt much more comfortable when I mocked it up. Might be an option if the new seats don't slide back farther.

@Economist LC76 has a simple design here that works, or can be modified to meet your needs

Anyone ever use this seat bracket from Redline 360 ??
