We recently completed a custom set of seat covers for a 1998–2007 Lexus LX470 / Toyota Land Cruiser, built with Full-Grain Nappa Leather in Light Grey for a clean OEM-plus interior look.

Configuration:
  • Car Type: LX470
  • Material: Full-Grain Nappa Leather
  • Leather Color: Light Grey
  • Top Stitching: Light Grey
  • Center Console: Light Grey
  • Wrinkled Inserts included
The goal was to keep the classic Land Cruiser / LX470 interior feel while upgrading the comfort and quality with premium leather.

I installed a set of Ridies leather covers in one of my 80s last year, and had a custom set of leather covers made for a 2000 LX470 (for $5k).
I can offer a (mostly) direct comparison: for the money, I'd install a set of Ridies without a second thought.

So only light grey available? No love for the tan interiors?

I thought I was just finishing up the first seat for my 2003 LX470 from Ridies. What I have found (and your kit seems to be the same) is the plastic attachment that wraps under the seatback and onto the seat back frame cross member (hopefully that makes sense) is nowhere near large enough for the 10'ish' mm wide
attachment.

Photos of factory vs ridies attached. Anyone else solved this?

Whiter plastic is ridies, the yellower plastic(lower) is factory

That's been brought up in other threads, to my knowledge they've never responded, on forum or otherwise (phone/email) and have never changed the design. Not sure what the others did to fix it. If it were me, I'd maybe unstitch both and have an upholstery shop sew the factory one to the aftermarket leather.

Thanks for this. Yes, this was my backup plan unless some other solution shows up. I kind of remembered there being a persistent issue with ridies but couldn’t recall if this was it.

Too bad to, kit’s an otherwise good kit.

Yes, lots of colors. None claim to match OEM, unless I am missing something.
They will send a list of color swatches. The thing is OEM colors won’t match either after 20 years. I chose a color that most closely matches the “patina” of my interior.

Other than it doesn’t have the right fasteners (which is a massive problem) everything else is a pretty smooth process

When did you order your leather kit?

What surprises me is that they haven't corrected this problem, but then again, they post their advertisements, but never care to read people's posts, respond to them, and/or take feedback. Oh well

Sure. But many other vendors will say something like, “this is our recommended match to your factory interior.” Matching a tiny swatch is hard, and none of the ones I received from Ridies were right to my eye.
