Weather has just been a bit to cold for me to get anything done in my Garage.

I do have two in my hands I'll be working on:

One is the rarest of 100 series Land Cruiser, a 2007 Silver Unicorn w/125K. 2007 had the fewest imported into USA of the 100 series. It's also a factory no NAV. Very clean.

The other is a very clean Gray 2011 Land Cruiser w/79K miles fully loaded. It's my first 200 series project, so I made sure it's a good one to cut my teeth on. 2011 had the fewest imported into USA of the 200 series.

I'll be sure to post a link here when I start the new threads on these!

I just read this whole thread and @2001LC, I am simply amazed at your level of detail. The new owner of the Black Night has a rig that looks new, and will provide many, many miles of use. Ironically, I am adding another 100 to my stable which is an '05 LC with only 71k miles. It is also a very clean example of a used 100 and is black garnet to boot! Your detailed instructions will provide me a guide for ensuring my rig will also be in tip top shape. I must ask, are you a veteran? I am very detailed oriented and yes, some of my friends have called me crazy lol. But, as an Army veteran of 12 years, I find that after being a civilian for well over 15 years now, much of the attention to detail I learned while being in the Army has carried over into my civilian life. Therefore, I see you and I have a lot in common when it comes to taking care of our rigs. Nonetheless, well done Sir! And, I can only hope to make my new "Christine" 1/2 as good looking as the Black Night. Cheers.

I am a Veteran of the Vietnam era )error(. My 30 years as and stock broker/analyst probably had more to do with being detail oriented, as do/did other past jobs as a tenager (starting at 8 yrs old). That and life events, I learned to double than triple check everything or pay a price.

Make sure to read "The Unicorn", and go through the first link in my signture. I keep adding as I learn and changing as mud corrects me on better practice and what have you...

Wait tell you see what I'm work on now, I've three rigs I'll be posting soon. Fun stuff for sure and always something new!

Who knows, The Black Knight may just stick around awhile, he is a very sweet ride. I've three rigs now and still want more, but I've a problem with shop room, I need more..... LOL So something got to go....:hmm:

Thank you Danny, I take that as a great compliment.

This hobby I began after pining for a specific 07 silver Unicorn, that got away from me, it now found me...:)
Now it is becoming sort of a business here in Denver. If I only had more room and a lift, it would be a business.

I started with LX470 last year. If you look at Whitlady a Golden Pearl 01 LX470 in my signature, you'll see links in her first post (OP), that I'm sure you'll enjoy.

Along with help from the great members of this forum is how I got started. In fact I just got a 25% cupon from Autogeek today!

Thank you my friend, I think it does too!

I started with a 5" Porter Cable I picked up off CL. I match it with Meguia's micro fiber pads & compounds.

They are ok, and according to Meguiar's are more aggressive than foam pads. But they're hard to find and not available locally even in a city Denver's size.

If I where to re-tool I'd go with 6" and just a foam pad system, cheaper and readily available locally. Porter Cable is great, but there are some high end DA buffer that I believe could speed up the process of cutting.

I would like to find some more 3" cut pads, they've been discontinued. They work well for small spot work and tight areas. I can also give a lot of pressure with them on stain glass.

@2001LC have you documented your Leatherique process on a thread somewhere?
