Very bad news guys. Its not actually been said yet, but there's a very high probability my "bosses" are gonna cancel my leave for SCC and/or not let me come back to Atlanta when I'd planned to get the trucks. Don't cancel anything yet, but letting ya know the bad news in advance in case you need to make alternate plans. Hopefully know something by the end of the week if not today.

For those that didn't hear already, I had three blowouts on the trailer, had to leave it in Chattanooga, and missed work Monday.

Dude! What happened with the trailer? Were the tires just shot out?

well that blows!!! Sorry for all the trouble you had.

Looks like I'm officially out anyway, good news/bad news... gotta work, those around this weekend know the details.

I think Dave is in the same boat too so even if you can go there's an opening on the trailer.

Thanks for the "condolences" everyone. Haha.

Well I don't know that they'll cancel my leave, so I may still be able to attend SCC, but they're trying to prove I have to have a CDL. So all my plans involving the trailer are are on indefinite hold. Can't even get the crawler home to fix it for SCC!

If you want to drag your junk to my place I'm only about 50 mi from Chattanooga
you can fix it here. I'm sure we can talk Matthew into loading it on a trailer for you.
Just let me know.

I hope everything works out for ya Steve, and like I told ya yesterday, you are welcome to ride over with me if you cant get your truck/trailer ready in time...

Thanks for the offers for help guys.

Small glimmer of light for the moment: Looks like I'll be able to pick up the trailer this Saturday and get it home at least. Still not too sure about SCC though.

Basically what's happening is that higher-ups are making me prove I'm legal to drive my rig and the trailer. I've proven myself legal in GA and TN so far, but haven't been able to locate CDL rules & exemptions for AR yet. At least I'll have everything back in my possession and can get to work on the Gecko in hopes to somehow still get my own rig to the Crawl.

You talking about your work higher ups? What do they care?

Yes. My "chain of command" for all the military folk. I really don't know why they care so much. But they are really raking me over the coals on this.

On a brighter note, as per my previous post, I did get the whole setup home today - so I'm happy about that. May be some sort of record for me too... Did it kinda Cannonball Run style: 4am-4am straight through. Memphis-Tupelo-Chattanooga-Memphis including, among many other things, changing out all 8 trailer tires myself.

I'll be lucky if I have enough drive to even pull the Gecko off the trailer and into the shop today. :frown:

that's a good reference, you're starting to remind me of...

DUN DUN DUNNNNNN...Captain Chaos!!!!!

captain chaos 2.webp

Although that's hilarious, and me being Captain Chaos is not far from the truth, I guess I shoulda more accurately said "Smokey and the Bandit style" or in the style of "East Bound and Down". haha

So here's the latest guys:
I still plan to bring the trailer back the weekend before the Crawl to do the repairs on it. Therefore, if that happens, I can still likely pick up the trucks as originally planned. I hate that everything got all wishy-washy and I had to verbally cancel, but I think, now that the trailer is back at home and apparently fully streetworthy, the deal may be back on for SCC.

Seems as though everyone that was definitely going is still going whether or not I tote the trucks but I'd like to know who might be interested if the deal still happens. Nick and John primarily, but also any of the others who'd expressed interest - Henry, Ted, Dave?

good to hear ya go it perty much straightened out but don't envy the price ya had to pay that's fer sure.

Dave is officially out--time off denied.

I'm out too-- A-hole boss said I had to work too. :o

Another step in the right direction this weekend. A few plusses and minuses:

1) Minus one backhoe (meaning the trailer is finally empty again)
2) Plus one new winch for the crawler
3) Plus a sheet of expanded steel for the trailer ramps
4) Plus money for some new springs
5) Trailer tires didn't get even a little warm this whole trip

And it was nice being at Superlift last night - even if it was only for a few minutes and I didn't get to wheel any.

So, who all is coming? This has been so confusing... LOL! I know it's not funny to you Steve. Yall please register if you are making the trip. We are trying to get our numbers together to do some last minute planning. Hope to see y'all there. Get Michael and the guys at ACC to throw a truck on that trailer!
