Welcome back Commander! It is nice to have you back at the wheel.

Ahhh. Everything is right in Land cruiser World again. Thank you Lee. It was nearly a year ago that the Huz and I took a 3 hour jaunt to see a dune beige 40..the whole way there - I remember reading this thread to him as he drove. I hold you personally responsible for the inspiration that fueled me to take the plunge with this old girl...fwiw-i think my husband holds you responsible too ;)

Awesome....

Welcome back Commander

RIP Blue Sky Motel

I drove by the Blue Sky Motel property today and it is now gone, bulldozed into history. I always thought that motel sign was kind of cool.

I haven't spent much time on MUD for the past couple of months, and somehow I missed Toyotaman's post. I must be turning into a sentimental sap, because thinking about the Blue Sky being bulldozed made me very sad. I'd hoped to stay there again next year on the way to Alaska, just for old times sake.

Yes, their old neon sign was cool. I don't think I've posted this nighttime shot previously, blue Montana sky in the background.

Adios old friend...:frown:

Smels like a leaking Fuel Tank

Just finished rebuilding the carb on my 76' Fj40 With the help of an awesome video seres on YouTube posted by PinHead. Before I fire up the beast I decided to pull the fuel tank. Dump out all the old gas and possible gunk. And Bingo Ringo it has holes. Not from the inside but from rust created by moisture accumulating on the cloth pads that the tank sits on.
So that was a whole bunch of words just to get to my question. What is the best way to repair the tank . JB Weld - One of those epoxy and fiberglass patch kits - braze the holes and the rusted area ? The interior of the tank looks greatjust a little rust at the holes.

Why did you bugger up the rustbucket thread with that? Go stand in the corner and don't come back until you have read every gas tank leak thread on mud!
