Salida, CO sitting at approximately 7000 ft. Current temp: 18, feels like 11. Wind gusts are freezing the snot in my nostrils. My boots say 3ish inches of snow with deeper drifts. Neither sleet, nor snow, nor dark of night or some $hit….Here’s the snow report for this morning. This picture is from Hinsdale County at 9,500 feet. It was -10°F this morning, with zero snow accumulation from the last storm. We’re not there at the moment, but it looks like there’s about eight inches of snowpack on the valley floor. It’s dry. Who else has a snow report to share?
For reference, this is Hermit Lakes, a hunting and fishing club between of Creede and Lake City. The peak to the left is just north of Stony Pass, which drops down into Silverton.
Bandit Rock sits a few miles from the fork in the road that leads to the back way into Hermit Lakes, a route closed in the 1990s for preservation. The faint paint markings on Bandit Rock might look like graffiti, but they are remnants from mining and supply store advertisements that served Creede and Silverton back in the Pony Express days. My grandpa always said that the rock got its name from thieves who would hide behind it to ambush the Pony Express and miners, looking to strike it rich with gold.

Thanks. Not trying to be a pain, just pinging the group. They have a long list to get through and there are only two employees making the calls, please be patient.
If they have issues reaching you, they’ll either let me know or try to message you here.
They did have some issues come up at the KOA that took priority over calling SASers. Like frozen/broken water pipes..
hang in there.
And it looks like you are living up to the USPS tradition—the mail never stops! BurrSalida, CO sitting at approximately 7000 ft. Current temp: 18, feels like 11. I did it last year with my homemade family style bikini top. Had a tarp, got dumped on a couple times.Anybody else plan to roll topless/bikini top in their 40?
Done it once up there in late fall and it was amazing. Summer storms are what concerns me.

It was -25 here this morning.... it has warmed up to -10 now.
Even the Dallas temp looks like a heat wave in comparison. lol.
And all at once.Just be prepared for rain, hail, sleet, and snow.
….Possibly all on the same day.
