Is anyone going?
I am going with a few buddies, camping out on the beach North of San Felipe straight west of the Huge Crockadile (SP?) billboard.

Oh and just a heads up the course has changed this year and the course will be entirely South of town. Course Map

I figured they would be getting rid of Zoo Road. Sal is making some changes this year to get the race scene a little more in order in Mex. I am personally cool with that. We won't be racing San Felipe this year but have a great time. Post up when you get back and let us know how all went.

Whens the passport dealio happening? i heard it was january of this year and now feb of next....? You'll need a passport just to go camp and watch the race.. guess i better get mine started.

Passports are currently needed to FLY in and out of Mex

Jan 2008 they will be needed to drive in and out as well

I figured they would be getting rid of Zoo Road.

Zoo Road is being used exclusively for chase rigs and specators this year! A good idea if you ask me!

I couldn't agree more. I think that nasty roll-over there last year was the final straw. Sometimes you have to protect the stupid from themselves.

Not really! I kind of disagree! If people are that stupid to stand that close and try to TOUCH cars and trucks going by them at over 80mph, the world is probably better off without them!! :D

Its that whole natural selection thing! :D

Now if we could just get them to stop breeding before they try and touch a trophy truck....:flipoff2:

I hope this situation can be resolved for future races, just wouldn't be the same if we have to race on the west side only.

Well this will be new for me since I have never been to the 500 or the 1,000 that are based out of the West side. I have only been to two of the last thre 250's out of San Felipe. But you are right, I like how much more secluded the East side is. Plus a sunrise over the water is rare for us here!
This is a shot from my tent door just outside of San Felipe!

That is truly a thing of beauty. The sunrises on the east side are the best I have seen anywhere.

So I got back from Baja at noon today and had a pretty good time. It was a little more hectic than relaxing unfortunately since we completely winged this trip where as we have San Felipe dialed in. I will be posting pics probably tomorrow since I am helping my GF's brother buy the new Tundra tonight. Talked him out of the Silverado :grinpimp:
Anyway trip highlights were watching the trophy trucks at race mile 190 of 216, then helping the Red (Roy Alloy) H1 Hummer out, OK our buddies in the Mastercraft chase van did most of the help but I did un-tape the light covers! Oh and then deciding after that (around sunset) to drive the 25 miles left of the course back to the main road and then to Ensenada..... Probably not the smartest thing, but my old boss dreams of being a trophy truck driver and I did my best to keep up with his 00' or 01' Tundra. It took us over an hour to go the 25 miles. Perty narly terrain especially after a few hundred racers had torn up the road.
Wow sorry for the ADD, long winded post......

Ha! I didnt know you knew the Mastercraft dude, we were with Mastercraft also at RM160!

Race was cool, saw the rigs come by WIDE OPEN, pitted a few folks we know and then drove all the way home that night, not a good idea.

I only got a few pics, i will post tomorrow

I don't know the Master Craft dude just one of the crew guys. And I think they had a couple chase vehicles. My buddy is Darien who was rolling in the Sport Van. They got stuck after we left them around sunset.
Yeah we ended up going north of Ensenada and camping at some Surf camp. We rolled in at 10:30 set-up the tent, made a fire and went to sleep after midnight to end a LONG day....

Whoops!
