I can tell ya one thing about wheeling with this rig....... stickies are not fair!!!

S**t works awesome! Don't let Lenny downplay it. That Zuk walks anywhere he points it. Mad props!

Daryl's 80 works very well also.

Nice to sees some "neighbors" up here.

Thanks steve!

Well the triple shakedown ( zuk half ass & steves mini) went well.

Getting used to the auto on down hills ( no compression braking) will take some getting used to.

4 linked worked well.

Cables on shifters... Not so much. Broke 2 of em

Kind of glad just had 1st gear or i would have been on that track..

BTW weighed the sammy....

3,050 lbs

She lean like her daddy ; )

Where'd you weigh it? I'd like to check mine too.

Big rig weigh station. Weighed the truck by itself, then weighed with truck & empty trailer, then with truck , trailer & sammy. Just subtracted truck & trailer weight from truck, trailer & sammy total weight to get just the sammy's weight.

I was thinking the zuk would be around 3300 lbs.

Edit:
Keep mind this is one seat, no tranny tunnel,no inner rear fenders, skins, unfinished rear cage, no passengers and an empty gas tank.

How you like the airbags? Where did you put the air inlets?

Wound up putting air inlets by gas cap.

The driver probably weighs 100 pounds wet.

Brainstormin here:

I want to run the strongest birfield out there, since that seems to be my weak link so far.

I would like to run the 80 series landcruiser longfield birfield, hi pinion 80 series differential and custom length longfield axle shafts in the mini truck axle housing, so i can run six shooter knuckles that i have.
I will have to clearance the inner knuckle ball if i run minitruck longfield birfs anyway, so why not clearance a little more..

I have thought about just putting an 80 front in there but will run into 80 knuckle strength issues with ram assist and 39s.

What you guys think?

I talked to Bobby yesterday as a matter of fact.... He feels 40's are too big for an 80 axle. He said D60. So that's that.... and he's right. You gotta remember, the same pinion size in the front 80 is the mini axle... so how many rings are you willing to go through? cause if you do suceed in keeping you longs healthy, then you're gonna blow ring/pinions as well as hub studs...

I don't think it will fit even with extensive grinding. Just too big. You could graft on the outer knuckles but then you get the crap steering arms.

I think standard Long 30 spline's will be fine. They hold up to some serious abuse and you literally have no HP. With the Auto, you will be easier on parts than with a stick. It will be easier to know when you need to back off.

I would not over-Lenny-think this one.

There are a bunch of threads out there for the "ultimate" Mini truck axle:

Keep the 3rd Low Pinion...the HP is stronger, but not enough to warrant the swap IMO.
30 spline Longs
Long or Marlin Hub guts and studs

3100# and 94 hp will go a LONG way in keeping the 30 spline Longs alive.

VERY true!
Lenny try them tiny longs first...
You shoulda looked at the ftoy axles and bretts... they got all the bells, inclusing the extra dowels in their flanges. but they do break... not sure if you saw marc's ring... he sheared EVERY tooth off the HP dif of his last week.

Dare to be different..

If i have to remove an extensive amount of material then it wont be worth it.

There is no size difference between a 80 long birf and and 80 stock birf . I will see if it fits in my spare front mini housing.

I will probably just go with mini longs but i am curious.
"
My hp (94hp is very generous-thanks grog) is low and so is my weight so i dont think i will have issues with longs and hopefully no issues with 4.10 ring and pinion.

I also have a light right foot

I start blowing ring ang pinions then i step up in whole axle strength. Problem is weight comes with strength.

not even close. the 80 birf will not fit in that axle. the mini birf will work for an 80... just not strong enough, but they are the same length (the old length 80 birfs that is).
There are some aftermarket mini-birfs that have to be pounded in the housing...
It seems to me that you've never held a mini birf and 80 birf at the same time, that'd answer your question right there.
