I purchased the last few things for my engine swap to make it 100%. I wanted it to be reliable so I bought a new alternator from city racer. The alternator thats in it works but its making a bearing noise so I think its time. I also bought the longer earlier temp sensor and I found a temp sensor tube. lastly I purchased the battery hold down brackets so no more bunji cord (dont judge me). Should be in somtime next week.

Not cruiser related but is my other passion - photography. if anyone wants an interesting read on old digital cameras I wrote another blog post. Digital Dinosaur 2: Rise of the Nikon D3 – Tools Of Time - https://blog.camerawest.com/digital-dinosaur-2-rise-of-the-d3/

Man I’m it even a camera guy and I enjoyed reading that.

I would love to be better at photography for the opportunity to save memories. I have no even remotely started to dedicate the time to get anywhere in that field other than clicking the object I want to take a picture of with my phone so it’ll focus.

Mood lighting or brightness? Superbrightleds.com

one of my instrument bulb lights is toast. whats the best instrument bulbs to put in an early fj40 as an upgrade ?

I am just looking to replace the instrament bulbs with maybe led ones for a little brighter.

Take a look at the 194 series from superbrightleds.com

This is a random question but how easy is it to make quick release door hinges? Going Soft top has made my start thinking about this. If I make these I will buy a oem set to take apart and make into quick release. IF anyone has any info on this please share it. It looks pretty easy to make with a cuttingwheel and welder.

I have wondered this as well.

What would be wrong with knocking the pin/ bushings out, welding a threaded pin to the door side hinge and dropping it in the body hinge with a nut on the bottom?

Joops are that way

—— Edit. Just researched what the hinges look like, this won’t work as easy as expected. But I feel like the FST hinges would be semi easy to replicate.

Or just get hinge pins that are easily removable

It looks like you could alter your existing hinges with a Sawzall and steel dowel rod and some welding. I wonder if the additional weight of the hard doors could be an issue with the cut hinge.

I got a set of doors I may let go of. They will come with the door side hinges. The body side hinges will remain on my 40 simply because my hands are too big to take them off lol.

Kinda what I was wondering too.

I will get you some pics. I'm not going to be using them. I like the look of the hard doors with the soft top.

Thanks! I think FST doors would be really cool. I am planning on taking the doors on and off a bunch and that might be the way to go. I am also a little nervous about my factory hard doors and sealing with the soft top. because they are the early style ones with the upper part.
