What are you drilling the end of the steering shaft for? I am confused plus many of the pictures are red X's.

LOL. My images server is probably having problems. I should have eloborated a little more on the driil press jig. Used it to drill my relay rod out to tap it for the non cruiser tie rod end. Very tight tollerances. Sorry for the confusion.

Fixed them for you.

They are nearly the same diameter, however the later style allows you to press the bearing in (with slight mod to the shaft) and it gets sandwiched between the tube and the firewall mount plate...

With the earlier style this doesn't work, you don't have a plate to stop it... We have used the bearing in conjucntion with a "stopper" on the shaft to keep the bearing in place. I have seen people put a tack on the shaft to keep the bearing from falling, or a couple tacks on the outer bearing shell to the steering tube, all should be fine.

We actually carry a brass bushing that is made for the eariler ones, it has a much tighter fit on the tube and shouldn't move at all... Take your pick...

kurt -

tried calling you guys up today, but it sounds like you are pretty busy. what is the best way to place an order? i dont mind calling back, just dont want to bug you. the sooner i can get this bearing, the sooner i can be done with this whole conversion.

thanks!

On your steering shaft it appears that one of the yokes is longer than the one that is welded to the column. Does it have a slip joint in it? If so what is the part number and how much. I am trying to avoid the $300 borgeson or flaming river shaft but I don't like the shafts without any slip in them. Thanks for your help. Tom

Those are spicer joints. I bought them also from Kurt. And yes the bigger part is a slip joint. I went with Kurts package because it was cheaper, he knows what he is doing, and it's a lot beefier than most steering joints. Because if your power steering goes out on the trail and you have those smaller joints like I have seen on other kits you might be in for a big surprise if you snap one.
