Calling all restoration experts! I pulled the carpet out of my 89 FJ62 and found some cancer in the cab. The truck has original fender flares and the rear right side inner fender has some unwanted air conditioning. How would you fix this issue. It’s so close to the gas lines I’m afraid of welding so close to them. I thought of using fiberglass but I’ll leave it to you experts to influence my direction.

Recall reading your thread on the great work you did. Was this not painted at a body shop?? I recall it was. Did they not catch this?

The hole isn't a big problem. The rust in the crease sucks. What does the wheel well look like from the outside? You may have to remove the fuel lines before you start cutting and throwing sparks everywhere.
I can see some surface rust in the quarter panel - not much but I wold need to remove the fender flare to be sure. I’m planning on replacing the left rear lower quarter panel (or the bottom 8”). The right rear quarter may be toast if I see a lot of rust behind the flare.

This is the third beige metallic FJ62 I have owned. The PO may have had it painted once but judging on the patina, it was a while back.

Oh ok. Was thinking of the white one? Hope it’s not the wrong person I am thinking about. May wanna call and chat with @kelly saad. He might share tips and may have parts for this. He usually makes them on his own for the most part.
