Can I bring my Fj Cruiser on 33's ;)

Sure, but what are you going to drive on the trail?

On the brighter side, I'm thinking this will be one run when I don't have to listen to the 80's guys talking about how nice it is to have air conditioning on the trail...

Thanks for the call Tony. I really want to go and to be honest the harsh conditions are something that makes it sound all that much more desirable to me. This could be one of those epic adventures in life. However, I'm not traveling alone so I'll have to see what the group wants to do.

I hope you make it out Gin...this is sounded to be right up your alley. cheers

Snifff..wagons have feelings too...Sniff :crybaby:

In fact, for such a large run, the wagons have done exceptionally well with minimal breakage. Like anyone from insanely built 40s, to cobbled together minitrucks, breakage can, and will happen. It's the nature of it. Just don't single out wagons, it's undeserved.

I think this year will be a challenge for everyone. I also think it's time to.....

End wagon racism now!

:grinpimp:

Ha! the wagon run has surpassed the breakfast as the most desired run. It is the largest group for at least the 3rd year in a row. The wagon run has done excellent, and kudos to Andy and his team. Thank you.

No, this year they will be talking about their heaters... Wished mine in my 40 and mini worked better.

While on the wagon run, I will have my "snorkel light" on  and the climate control set to "beach" :flipoff2:

Wagons can swim ;)

I just have to say this: There has been plenty of talk over the years about how the wagons are slow and will hold people up or be trail plugs. It hurts me because it's unfounded. Also, because it is a possibility, that is the reason I have asked Tony to let the wagons go on Wednesday, since most of the participants in a real hurry are on Thursday and Friday runs.

The objective reality is that the wagons have never held anyone up, have always arrived to Buck Island and the springs earlier than expected, and have not yet caused a "trail plug". In fact most trail plugs are FJ40s that break pinions, or poorly maintained rigs that shear knuckle studs.

In fact, for such a large run, the wagons have done exceptionally well with minimal breakage. Like anyone from insanely built 40s, to cobbled together minitrucks, breakage can, and will happen. It's the nature of it. Just don't single out wagons, it's undeserved.

bawahahaha, come awn now andy. you know i consider you a friend and i value your well thought-of replies and intelligence. however, i beg to differ on this one. first off, i was not referring to you or your group. i was talking about the 80s on 33s, 60s without gearing and so on.........if anybody is taking this personally, don't get your panties in a bunch; we all have to start somewhere. i am fully aware that the majority of the issues are caused by rigs that should not be on the trail or drivers who do not have enough experience to deal with the task at hand.
have any of you guys ever had to wait for one of the rigs in my group to get out of your way?! maybe that's because just like the wagon run and others, we try to go well prepared, we're not there to be heroes or show-boaters and if something goes wrong, we get out of the way.
i'm concerned about the people who don't do so. yeah, so i lumped "most of the wagons" in with the newbies.
fwiw, i seem to remember a certain soa brown fj6x that was broken down and being towed down the trail towards buck when he got into even more trouble. i do believe that was a prime example of a trail plug. and it was a wagon. i won't elaborate because it was a crappy situation but it just goes to show that it can happen to any rig, even wagons.........
with all the snow and mud the wagons are going to have an even bigger challenge on their hands. afterall, they do tend to weigh a little more than most 40s and minitrucks so breaking thru the crust will become more of an issue.

either way, we need to be extra careful this time out. it'll be a good time either way.

see you up there!

georg

ps: i might very well be in one of those horribly put-together minitrucks this year, so watch out!

My post was in jest obviously! If we're holding someone up, we'll pull over. In past years it has not been an issue, and yet everyone assumes the wagons will be slow. Let's face it, the Rubicon is NOT about how fast you can run it. My take is that anyone, on any run who breaks down in a major way, will be slow. Still the Wednesday departure is nice to have an extra day if needed.

With only 70 registered rigs, I doubt we'll have much in the way of log jams (knocking firmly on wood)...

Knock on Wood! The year that it decides to snow excessively and have heavy water crossings, I decided to cut out most of my floor in the rear, lol. :grinpimp:

Does anybody (on the Wagonrun) know how to build an igloo?

Ross.. how many have participated in past events?

I'm so pumped up about this run. The small numbers, the challenges, and just being out on the trail with awesome people in a beautiful place.

I take it that you WILL be coming then!:grinpimp:

140 rigs - 175? 100 is a small year. Split over 3 days, that's only 20 - 30 on the trail at one time... Wagon run will get a big group through.

Breakfast runs in the past have been in the 30 - 35 area.
