Yes...a very happy ending!

I got there Friday night around 8. The damb blood suckers were swarming and of cours I didn't have my bug spray. Guess where it was...yeah ...with my rig...lol There was lots of traffic up until about 2:30 with guys for both the trail renovation and the jeepers thing. But I did manage to use some bug spray from some nice wheelers in a ...yes a jeep.
My new lifelong friends arrived about 8 ish and we got loaded...no just my gear...and headed up and down. We were planning on camping at Miller lake but somehow missed the killer camp ground...alas alas. We figured on finding it on the way out.
Not to much traffic going down just some folks making water bars and such but they were tucked along the side and we were able to negotiate around them. At least on the way down that is.
We got the the springs at 11:30 and made my rigs way to the mechanics small slab to make repair. Tony kept Mark the caretaker busy bs'ing and swapping stories, George placated some of the jeepers that were hanging tarps by holding ladders for them and fielded questions for me. Mike and Dale were helping me load the 3rd in and slap the cover and drive line back on. Steve was at the task of cleaning up my axles since they seemed to have rolled in the forest debris when we were firuring out just wat was wrong with my darn rig. have i said it was hot yet. And that the jeepers were heckling us the whole time...in jest I hope.
We crawl out from under and see that the axles are in and ready for the drive flanges...I love my floating rear end...on my rig that is...lol I am ready for the big a-- snap ring and the new pliers I have for them are just a tad small. I knew that going in but what I didn't know is that they are a piece of ...well...they didn't work but only for one side. Lucky for me Steve asked one of the jeepers and they had a pair to die for and got the other side in. Got it all buttoned up and Dale juiced up the 3rd and we were just about on the trail.
I said my thanks to Mark and his wife Maria for letting me stow my rig under their bedroom window...would there be a better place...lol Mark is a great guy and Steve Morris is lucky to have him in my humble opinion.
So we roll out and have lunch(the repair took just about an hour and change) at the slabs. The water was actually very nice. There were some people at the falls above and in the hole that is there.
After lunch we started up Cadilac. It was very dry compared to when we all went up and the only traffic we had trouble with is some jeepers didn't want to wait for us to navigate just above the first big turn. They just didn't want to wait...what's up with that! So we had to skinny around them. Ever had to pass a rig on that stretch? Not easy. I was kissing the guys roll cage and he had to pull it over so as not to lock horns in a buck rut. I do not know how 55guy made it passed. We went a bit further and Leon(Tony's co-pilot) was in the trail as I passed and say a rattler just leaving the trail. Let Leon know and he armed himself with a rock...better than nothing.
We made it to the observation point for the obligatory photo op and continued on up.
And next was where to camp. Musketoes suck! Did I say that? Anyway, we are looking for a camping ground and being bitten all the while and Tony comes up with the idea to go to the Chez Twiddy resort. No one had a complaint about that. It's a remote resort that only a few have been to and enjoyed. It's nestled in the oaks of a town that I can't divulge or it will be unindated with wonton tennants. It's perfect! There is a cement pond, slide, hot spring to reguvinate the weary bones and after that a red hot round grill to brown up our much needed sustinance. And not to mention, a spot to plop our weary selves for a nights rest.
Morning rolls around and coffee is on the weather is perfect and George is in the kitchen(thanks for keeping your shoes on...lol...kidding) making the best darn egg hodgepodge ever. After we all feast we it's time to bid farewell to a great weekend and head home.

I do want to thank everyone that helped me. Tony, Mike, Dale, George, And their Co-pilots Leon, Steve and Nick. For without you all I would still be stuck down in the springs.

I do want to say though, that being a part of a great community (and that is the TLCA) it warms my heart that there are individuals that will go the distance, and yes an inconvience to them and family, to help a member in need as I was. We have a great commonality that we all share. Be it long or short wheel base and that is Toyota. The TLCA.

Thank you all again,

Keith Kilinski

man, that was a good trip!

got there on time, so did everybody else. had "the right size group" of rigs, all comparable and well set-up, made good time, everything went according to plan. what else could you ask for?!

the best part was tony offering "hey, let's head back to my place". there was a moment of silence, people looking at each others expression and that was that.

the new "casa twiddy" friggen rocks! big place, bitchin yard, huge pool, cindy, a driveway with more square fottage than most homes...........and sleeping under the stars was'nt bad either!

thanks again for the hospitality tony and cindy, very much enjoyed it. had a great time wheeling with you guys as well. looking forward to the next trip already. hmmmm, fordyce.:D

georg ( that's right keith, it's "georg" without the "e":flipoff2:)

We made it to the observation point for the obligatory photo op and continued on up.

Yes, a good rescue mission!

Kudos to all the folks working on the trail that day, and thanks for the No White Daisies sticker.

That was my first In and Out in one day on the Rubicon.

Thanks Georg and Knorr Bros for helping Keith out. Now that is what I call Trail Committee!

Cindy loved having you guys over for dinner and swimming and cocktails. So much for her quiet evening at the house. I think the drive way looked great stuffed with tow rigs and 4x4s.

Definitely closing the books on a long Rubithon!

For those of you reading this and wish you were heading back?? Keep August 19 to 22nd open for some trail work and camping in the springs! More to come...
