Sure Tony. But it turned out to be Twice. 2nd time not quite as pleasant as the first.

I'm rewiring the trailer today

As we are all getting ready for an interesting Rubithon, I want bring to the attention of everyone reading this thread the extraordinairy volunteer effort both Dave Thomas (no, the other Dave Thomas) and Ross Woody have been puting into this years Rubithon.

If you're with them, ask if you can help them... if you see them, be sure to thank them.

I know I'm very appreciative.

Getting caught up with this thread...

Ross - Are you dragging a trailer all the way to the springs? Do you need another? I'm driving the 80 series this year and wasn't planning to bring my trailer but I could be persuaded if needed.
Mudraks run, right?

PM on the way...

We went i yesterday from the Tahoe side with 2 pretty good set up quads, and one that was so-so. Left staging about 9am. About a mile past staging we hit snow. Lots of water run-off under the snow. Took us 2 hours of pushing, pulling and winching just to get to Miller Lake. The snow was s***ty at 9am and started getting worse real quick. Water crossing were about average, 2 feet deep.
Its real easy just to be going along and just "sink". Again, all the water run-off under the snow.

Just me, but I would not be going in this way for Rubithon.

I think that is sage advice.

(
Not familiar with Sage Advice?
Def: ... Advice that is sage (wise). This is best sort of advice that there is. ... "Sage advice" is also a smartass ironic comment that's made when...)

Brett Favre (tony)
It appears you have been watching film. Are you calling an audible end around (to loon)?

Have you heard from your offensive coordinator (phil/mog crew) yet? Are they going to over rule you and tell you to go for the quarter back sneak, straight up the middle and into the snow? Then laugh as you get tackled. Then call the same play again.

Dave

Dave, thats funny...you are going to be chasing him all over the Sierra Mt's...but Brett and Tony always seem to pull it off.

ready to leave now...still working on patience:D

Coming your way straight out of Atlanta Airport in the A.M.--- Looking Foward to another West Coast Krazy Good Time:eek:!!! The Dog

I did the final test run in the loaner rig today. Everything is good to go :) Gabe is super excited. Where ever we make it to will be A-OK with us. We are in it for the adventure not the destination. How could you go wrong with a bunch of diehard Cruiserheads?

One question I did have was on parking. I think I remember Tony saying we should park at Icehouse. From Icehouse to Loon will we get hassled with big trucks? (ie: mudflaps, tires exceeding fenderwells, etc...)

While it is a possibility, the probability is fairly low.

As of last Thursday the tow vehicle and trailer parking area at Loon Lake is clear of snow, I would tow all the way there. No ticket possibility. John

Thanks for the info. We'll tow all the way in then.

I don't recall getting a confirmation in the mail this year...did my check bounce again?

I saw your name on the list, so I think yer good! See you tomorrow.

Any reports filter back from Mudrak and Jim B today? They were trying the Tahoe side.

yea... where is everybody? have they made it to the springs yet?

You can almost bet the farm that they made it into the springs via Tahoe side as Mud would have called if they were goin back to Loon. Dave, you makin it this year ? we missed ya for a couple years it seems.

I just got off the radio with BK. He and the Mudrak gang are still forging on....They are entering hour 8 and haven't reached the observation point yet (YIKES) The snow is extremely sloppy requiring alot of winching and digging.
I'll keep you posted
Kathy

There was a report on pirate of a group that got to the observation point, going loon to tahoe direction. then turned around because of the snow. So once they hit observation they should be in good shape.

That's a hell of a combo, Kathy. If any pair of guys are going to make it through this week, it'd be those two. But you already knew that, huh?

That group prolly has Jack Rice, T Wayes and a few other head strong folk included. They'll get there before dark, bank on it.
