Go for it! It looks really well kept up. The one issue with these older Toyota IDI turbo diesels is that they tend to run pretty high EGT's, so if you end up with it I would recommend installing a pyrometer.

None of the C diesels were used in any LandCruiser platform, but they were used in various Hiace models, probably some Hiluxes, Townaces, and likely a bunch of smaller cars. Parts should be pretty easy to find, especially from other parts of the world.

Forgot to reply to this comment, and I'm curious for more information on the EGT temp sensor concept you mentioned. Although luckily enough Old Brown has been running pretty smooth and cool, but I haven't operated on any hot summer days yet

Heres a little 4runner eye candy for those interested. This guy is out in Spokane and imports from Japan. I've seen a handful of pretty cool vehicles pass through. RHD 5 speed

Heres another beauty, the Grand Hiace. Someone around town has one of these and I see him with a dirtbike fully stood up and secured in the back. Pretty cool rig . I'd love something I could tour around with and stand up in.

I don't know anything about the Toyota diesels, wonder if this 3.0L 1KZ is a good option

I'm not a big fan of the stealth blacked out look but this truck seems pretty bad ass. Overpriced? IDK

I don't know about these models but here is 1 listed in the classifieds for $14,000 less, it is 2 years older

Right? yeah I think the vehicles on EagleCarsNW are typically priced 30-40% higher than what someone could find if they look for it....Nice to see he puts some maintenance into them but I thought the asking price was a bit steep

Uhhhhh this seems priced high

Happy new year fellow cruiser folks

I think I've got a week off in February and wanted to head south. Probably not too much further east of the four corners area. Figured I'd shoot down past SLC and then try to find a few nights to cruise around and probably circle back up through WY. I'd really like to see some sort of desert / red rock type of environment, long sandy roads and all that good stuff. Snow in the mountains is a factor for sure so will need to stay lower

I've got a few routes in mind but wanted to see if anyone has some tips.

It's because of the year and low mileage. They're starting high to see what they can get. There was a 94 or something on an auction site a couple years ago similar that brought over a 100k. 97's are the most desirable.

Finally quit my desk job and have a few weeks to go before starting up my next gig.

So where does guy with a cruiser go this time of year? Most trails and elevation within 8-10 hours is snowed in . Maybe checkout some lower areas of Nevada and then circle back around through AZ / UT

From what @SnowVersion told me, it has been lowered on cut springs, has a poorly installed stereo system with a massive sub in the trunk, parasitic drain (probably from the sound system), possible transmission or brake problems (had trouble moving under its own power according to seller). Oh, and bad paint. If a person was looking for a large project to keep them busy it would probably be fine. Too big of a project for me or my brother to consider right now.

Pshh yeah that sounds miserable, pass on that for sure...My latest addiction is the old Toyota Tercells with 4WD. Guy down in Kalispell has a beauty that he has owned since the 80's

You should definitely pass unless you want purgatory-worthy levels of misery. Everything about the car exuded ownership by a mechanically inept owner. In addition to the obvious stuff like cut springs and the punk kid sound system wired directly to the battery, I found signs of abuse and neglect everywhere. Sunroof drains had been pinched shut so they didn't "leak" water into the trunk. The paint presented as if someone had mistaken sandpaper for a microfiber detailing towel. The bottom of the core support was cracked from the car being lowered. Chunks of the dash trim were busted.

For better or worse, there are enough halfway decent 300Ds in the world that this one will probably never be worth the effort to fix.

Watching the price has been interesting though. It started at $1200 and was $3500 the next day. Since then the price has changed several more times.

haha right? Definitely more of a good laugh then a smart purchase.....I do believe everyone needs a certain level of misery in their lives, could buy this Mercedes and be set for many many years

I guess the days of buying a cheap car that are actually road worthy are gone....Had an old friend that used pick these old Mercedes up for few hundred bucks around NYC back in my high school days
