Well I finally got it finished up. I'd hoped it would be quick and simple, and it almost was. The triple sticks and the t-case shifter mod went fine but then, when adjusting it all, I found out that my trans shifter, that'd already been modded once for the driveline tuck, was hitting the center stick. So I had to remod that shifter again. Not terribly difficult, just annoying to have to do it over and a little tedious.

^^^^^ Damn, I would be soooo confused....

Damn, I would be soooo confused....
Its not as bad as it seems. I already had four shifters and just added one. In fact, I think its going to be LESS confusing now. I reversed the action of the 4wd lever so now, to go into "normal" crawl mode, I just slap all 3 of the bunched shifters forward and I'm done.

Reinforce the new belly pan, get a new battery somewhere and reload the interior and she'll be ready to go on the trailer pretty much. Test drive is already complete; so far so good.

Semi is unstuck from the yard and fueled up already too. May not seem like much, but that was a huge task as always. Luckily I had help for once so it went MUCH quicker and tore up the yard slightly less than usual.

Weather has been in the 60's and maybe even 70's some days so I'm really looking forward to the trip (not that I wasn't already).

Gotta be a smart-ass as usual eh? haha

Trying to upload a video now - maybe it'll be finished by the time I wake up tomorrow. :/
(will probably error out at 98% like usual)

It's video of my first ever "walkin the crawler".

Man! Steve had really tough luck..glad to see him get his rig fixed, although it was Friday evening before he did, cool part to me was, Marlin was thrashing on his rig with him. I happened to notice because I ran out of gas in front of steve's trailer!!! Marlin, if you haven't met him is an encylopedia (sp?) about Toyotas and drive trains, I always knew it, but when it sunk in was when I asked him about some output shafts, it was a 30 min. tech session...while he was trying to make a climb..amazing guy.

Glad to see you got your rig fixed Steve.

Thanks W.L., I'm glad I got fixed too!

Marlin is an amazing black hole of knowledge, that's for sure - it's almost scary what he knows. I'm so appreciative of everyone that lended a hand in getting me fixed, especially Marlin. I do feel a little bad that he wasted so much trail time working on my rig though. :wrench:

I'm so thankful for the Toyota community in general too. While maybe not everyone is quite the encyclopedia or the workaholic like Marlin, I'd guess that maybe 30% of the attendees of the event had a part in getting me back on the trail. Whether it was getting their hands dirty right next to me like Marlin, Daryl, Rob Theurer, and Shane Morell, getting the parts rounded up like John and his buddies from Austin, or even the multitude of people who sent me to "someone who will know" - which eventually got me what I needed - so many good people took a moment (or hours) to help me out.

Toyota people are awesome!!

actually i was impressed with how slow it is now with the 3rd TC. :flipoff2:

that's ridiculously slow, whats' the point in even having a driver anymore? perty cool steve.

Thanks guys. I thought it was pretty cool too. Having a hard time holding back the childish grin in the video there.

Ted, as you can see, somebody's still got to steer. LoL However, I am contemplating a simple worm gear mechanism set on a remote so that I can have a 1:1 scale RC Crawler. :) Safer than standing right next to it anyway. Haha

just goes to show it's the truck and NOT the driver. :flipoff2:

Yup. You're absolutely right Ted. Trucks that drive themselves over large obstacles don't need good drivers because the people behind building them that way are so skilled.

So what's your excuse? Doh!
