Dood, what a great writeup! Your 80 looks awesome, I really love the color and all the mods!

I have a B5 Quattro so between the 4Runner, 80, and Audi we have very similar car histories! Great minds.... :D

Love the Colorado pics (the one w/ the dog looking out the window is funny), that's one place I really want to visit- and you did it w/ the best-Ali! again, great writeup, really enjoyed it.

Heck, I can't wait that long, let's go again in Sept/Oct....maybe we'll just sneak away for a quick weekend w/o telling the wives? :D

Nice looking rig bro, can't wait to spend more of your money...:D

Great write-up. The pics are awesome. We're glad to have you in our club and look forward to more wheeling very soon. Moab in about a month sounds good! You're already wheeling like a madman - the rest of us will have a hard time keeping up once you get a few more mods in place.

Great rig! I too like the shot with the dog. Reminds me of my lab when we take him out with us. I also love this shot with your daughter in the back seat...w/NO clue whats going on:eek:. That's one for the baby book!

I know, It is so funny. Both my daughters are in that pic, the other one in hiding on passenger side. My 3 year old tells people, "Don't be scared," when we're out wheeling with newbies.

For the people nervous at home, the obstacle sounds much worse than it is. Disclaimer, If any wheeling is going on they are locked in the back with the 5 point harness'.

Yes, the trail is Black Bear Pass. It goes from 550 North of Silverton/Durango over BBP to Telluride. It is a one way trail because of switchbacks and narrows. You can come back by some other choices either to the north or south.

Here's my favorite picture of Black Bear Pass.

On Kane's Creek, I went into the "Big Ditch" and hit my spare and my hilift as I was coming out.
TR

Too funny, I went through the same ditch on the first day and even told my dad that I wouldn't hit. I hit:eek:. The first time I would actually say that I scraped my whole rear bumper.

Goes to show once again how different parts of the country pose such an array of challenges. I never hit my rear bumper in SoCal (unless I back into something) but I am constantly flexed out and rubbing. When I was at CM07 I was on my bumper all the time and almost never rubbed in my wheelwells.

Again, great pics

SCHWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!

Awesome truck Graham, I didn't realize you had done so much to it. Don't be too upset that my truck will slowly start to look yours!

Good stuff.

I like the wacky tent, for sure.

Thanks for the writeup!

Thanks for the comments guys. I almost forgot one other mod, thanks to Skillet.

I used the Mooney Eyes License Plate Lights for my relocation of my rear license plate. I wired it into the trailer harness via the instructions on Slee's website for their rear bumper set-up.

I won't be upset at all. More people to wheel with.

got any pics of your rods and fishing set ups?
like to see where you store them and how you set up for a day in the h2o.

i've seen the roof racks for the inside of the rig, sure beats hearing the tubes go rolling around all the time.

Sorry to say, I don't have any special way of securing the rods. I just wedge them behind the backseat in the cases.

My pride and joy rod is a 7 1/2 foot, 4/5 weight, split bamboo rod that I buit by hand myself. It is based on the Payne 97 taper. Check out this site for an idea of how to build one: http://www.thomaspenrose.com/tonkin.htm

If you haven't fished bamboo then you are missing out. Fiberglass is close but these babies can be really smooth. You can make them in fast, slow, or medium action too.

I remember this ad from when I was a kid reading 4Wheeler and Off-Road magazines. I can't quite recall the wording but I remember they were advertising Warn Automatic Locking hubs, and IIRC, the caption said something like "When you can't get out to lock your hubs". I always thought it was some type of manipulation of a photo of the Jeep truck and a photo of a rock ledge, maybe by laying one negative over another? Is it real?

Is that really on Black Bear Pass? If so, I guess they have done some road improvements since the ad was printed.

I have no way of confirming real or not.

"Road improvements" - Understatement of the year.

*about the add picture*
It doesn't even look like the truck will fit past the next section of road. It appears to narrow there.
