These are megacruiser engines so they are actually rotary pumps.

There were a variety of megacruiser setups that seem to have varied over the years. I assume they're from ex military? Now you just need a whole megacruiser ;)

Nothing wrong with the rotary pumps but when the apocalypse comes and you're riding around like mad max the 12HT inlines might last longer on WVO and waste oils

I certainly can't say that all Megacruisers used rotary pumps. Yeah, these were military variants.

Fark, FTE rocker cover. Late and incorrect??? Where did you order from?

Potentially not even ideal for spares for the 15BFT as people say the 15BFTE blocks and timing covers etc are not compatible. Looks like they didn't ship it with an ECU etc as well so it's currently an expensive belated boat anchor?

It came from here. Judging by his posts it is unlikely it was a mistake. He clearly distinguishes between FT and FTE.

From that thread it looks like they haven't had a supply of FT's for over a year

I purchased these October of 2020, they arrived to my house yesterday.
Ouch, that's unacceptable. I'm surprised you didn't jump on a plane and show up at his house after a wait that long

15BFT can be sourced from China from coaster buses but they're a mixed bag to say the least, mine ran but everything on it was bodged

@roma042987 . Just found your thread here and spent time reading through your 15BF swap adventures. I had no idea you'd bought the engine I put a link to last year! I'm glad it runs ok (from sound of it in your video above).

As mentioned in the Nurik 15BFT thread, I'm sorry things did not work out so well there. What a disappointment after that expense and waiting so long.

Yeah the 15bf seems to be solid but I haven't road tested it just yet. Thank you for posting it on here. The adventure to pick it up alone was worth it to me.

I've decided to finish up the 15bf swap and put a few miles on it before I install one of the 15bft engines. I may even put a turbo on the 15bf before I pull it since I already tapped the block for the drain and already have the FT exhaust manifold. I spent an embarrassing amount of time on it this week building a 2.5" exhaust system. I also made a stainless steel bracket to move the radiator back slightly and over toward the passenger side.

The muffler brackets use existing pick up points, I probably won't use the front one once the turbo goes on as I'll build a straight through 3" exhaust without a muffler. In the meantime I'll pull these brackets off and powder them. The exhaust I used aluminized pipe on, cold galvanized the welds, and sprayed it black.

Working in my other 40 I noticed that the earlier 40s have the radiator support centered in the frame while my 77 has it offset toward the driver side. Moving it over yields some more clearance for the steering box as well as a lower radiator hose which seems to be the bug hurdle with this swap.

Radiator is mounted up. I'll probably add another support rod from the radiator support to the firewall on the driver side. I need to weld up the lower radiator pipe at this point to finish it up. If I was going to keep this engine in it I'd fab up a bracket for the Donaldson air cleaner but since the turbo FT is getting installed in the near future I'll wait to reinstall the Donaldson since it will be on the passenger side again.

All that cardboard on the radiator ought to bring up to temp real quick in all of this cold weather we’re having ;-)
