What starter did you end up using, Roman?

I used the shiny new 12v starter that should give me sufficient clearance for the new 40 series power steering box.
oh by the way think im about done with the 70 alberto so whenever your ready its yours

wasn too crazy about the shape of the original alternator vacuum pump oil feed and return hoses so i pulled those today and had some nice new ones made up as a preventative measure.

Dang, you're really making some kick ass progress on this thing!!!

Havent updated this in a couple of days but its not because I haven't worked on it. Last couple of days have been quiet eventful apparently if you plunge your shower drain do not get too crazy with it or you will blowout the wax ring on your toilet! So I spent my birthday working on a flooded bathroom first thing in the morning. :( ok back to the cruiser I knew I was going to have to pay a welder to come out and weld my mounts but one of my friends/coworkers put me in touch with a friend of his who has a fab shop. Apparently after meeting the guy his shop is less than 3miles from my house and just so happened we had met before and even had some mutual aquaintences....and what do you know he is a fellow mudder on here as well! So I pull in his driveway and what do I see....this sweet fzj80!

ok so here is where it gets interesting after some quick test fitting of the 3b i was pretty disappointed to find out my new starter still doesnt clear the 40 steering box! soo off with steering pedestal! at this point im thinking good thing i brought this thing to this guy because i couldnt imagine finding anybody else around here that could do a better job on a 60 power steering conversion! So at this point i should a have a 60 box in the mail headed this way by tomorrow and im trying to figure out exactly what parts i'll need to bolt the 60 pitman arm to the 40 right side tre. I know that you can use toyota parts for this without cutting or welding but the 70 series relay rod ball joint is still too big for the 40 series right side tre. what am i missing here?

Looks good! Almost ready to drive uner her own power!

upon doing some test fitting of the drive shafts i noticed my new to me fj60 split case not only has a different flange than the 40 shafts but also is different from the vacuum split case 70 series flange. anyone know if i can just the swap the 60 and 70 split case out put shaft flanges?

Got some more done on it today installed the clutch line, accelerator cable, installed a lower support bearing for the steering column, and my 12v 3b oil sender.. Oh installed my trans shifter and something has happened with the transmission. for some reason it won't go into any gears and neutral only moves partially? Only thing I can think of is something happened when I turned the trans up on the bellhousing to put the transfer case together. Hopefully I can fix it just by pulling the top cover. I'm thinking it can't be anything serious or broken since it was in good shape when I pulled it. Any ideas? If my Fj62 box came in today I should be able to get the steering done tomorrow other than the high pressure hose. Oh and I picked up a flaming river universal joint to attach my 40 shaft to the 62 steering shaft. And then I'll be pulling the trans back out Monday. Got a ways to go if I'm going to drive this thing cross country in a week.

Pull the reverse switch out of the top plate, stick a screwdriver in there and move the reverse pin back.

If you stood it up on the bell housing this is what happens and thats all that is needed to fix the problem. No need to remove the top plate.

place screwdriver in hole and pry forward so the tip moves aft...that should do it. It should be very easy to move.

cant thank you enough man! got the shift fork to move a little through the reverse hole but ended up just using a long screw driver through the actual shifter hole to move it back. Worked like a charm!
thanks again!

Got a good bit done today. Guy I got my steering box from was kind enough to send me the upper steering column stub from the Fj62. So we just welded that directly to my 40 shaft. Ended up removing the shock tower to position the box in an optimal position. So I ordered a 94 down f250 ford shock tower which should be here Tuesday. Fixed the trans and mounted the nice 70 boots. Still got to figure something out about the drag link i can't seem to find a oem part combination to mate the 70 tre at the pitman arm to the 40 tre. Oh noticed the 2f had a 2wire alt and 3b has 3 wires anyone know which wire on the 3b isn't used?

Maybe it's just the abgle of the photo, but the pitman arm looks pretty darn close to the leaf springs.
