Got my Carbon Winch installed today over at Offroad Toy Outfitters. Possibly the first Carbon in the states.
Fits in the Cruiser company bumper pretty well. slight mod to make the control box fit with the intercooler

Can’t wait to get these JRP gauges installed.
Testing out an oil sandwich plate. I’ll get oil pressure and oil temp.
also will have coolant temp, pressure and low coolant alert via the inline hose adapter.
Then of course Egt boost and another gauge for trans temp.

Successful first trip on the Trailpeak. I noticed I need to run the diesel heater a bit more than I usually do when sleeping in the truck. I think it dropped to the low 30s overnight. I assume, since there's no insulation/thin fabric, it escapes pretty quickly. But overall, it's working pretty well. You don't even notice the weight at all when wheeling around.

Knocked out the gull wing window install on my 80 this week as the first step of a bigger interior project I'm doing with Wasatch Overland. Figured I'd document it for anyone considering the same.

The windows: EmuWing makes these specifically for the 80 Series. Fitment was basically flawless, everything lined up clean, and the hardware and build quality feel solid. No complaints.

The install: Pretty painless overall. The one thing worth flagging is surface rust on the body where the windows mount. Nothing serious, but worth dealing with before you button it up. I sanded it back, made sure it was clean, and hit it with POR-15 as a final coat. Didn't overthink the prep, just made sure it was clean and dry before applying.

Bottom line: If you've been on the fence about these, they're worth it. The install isn't difficult, just take your time with any rust spots before you close it all up.

Interior Build Breakdown
Headed to Wasatch Overland today to start the full interior build. Been planning this one out for a while and finally have all the components lined up.
Here's what's going in:
Power & Storage:
  • LiTime 320ah battery for the main system. Should handle multi-day trips without needing to fire up the engine or rely on solar alone.
  • ISOtherm 80l fridge with an Underkover Australia organizer to keep everything sorted instead of just throwing loose stuff on top of cold food like I've been doing.
Lighting:
  • GoFluxx LEDs setup throughout the interior. Clean, low draw, and bright enough to work under at night and white, red, and amber lighting.
The Build:
This is all going through Wasatch Overland. They're handling the drawer system, electrical integration, and making sure everything fits the way it should in the HDJ81. I've been documenting the whole process and will post updates as it comes together.

The goal here is a setup that works for anything I can throw at it. Want to be able to run the fridge, lights, and charge gear for a few days without worrying about the battery.

If you're running a similar setup or have thoughts on the components, let me know. Always down to hear what's worked or what hasn't.

More soon.
