Loving that you’re posting it here too. I been watching all the 80 videos. And some of the dupes and garage stuff too.

I scanned his build thread quickly as it was new to me. I wouldn't go by him as he made a number of questionable choices, one of which ultimately lead to the destruction of his engine. He also never asked for help/advice in the V8 80 series thread, which is why I was unaware of his build. My 2 cents...

I was posting because the OP is doing a 6.0 as did the author of this thread. There were lessons learned when it came to the fuel lines and that is what I was trying to the OP attention.

No worries.

I did a 6.0L (L96) with a 6L90e swap. I do not have overheating or fuel boiling issues. Mind you, I only have 5,000 miles on my swap so they could still happen. 🤪 He also lives in Arizona, and I don't. I did drive to Tennessee during hot weather..lol. Not sure if that counts. The real test will be driving to Moab this April....

Moab is on the bucket list. Rumor there is a family trip "planned" for Utah next year. I believe he wrapped the lines with the DEI heat wrap.

It will be our first trip. We got lucky 🍀 and we able to get into Cruise Moab.

As for him, it might have been as simple as a clogged evap line from the tank. They will clog over time, especially if the charcoal canister fails (I think his did), This will cause your gas tank to pressurize. It could also be his fuel return wasn't fully functioning. I can't see fuel boiling being a huge issue since it returns to the tank.

I did not wrap the fuel lines, even though they run right next to the cat/exhaust. Instead, I put shielding around the cat/exhaust, and left the fuel lines open to air. This reduces the heat getting to the fuel lines, and lets fresh air exchange around them.

As you can see, heat is redirected downwards and not trapped.

One of these days I will take my temperature gun and measure after a long hot drive.

I've been busy finishing up my Supra so that I can fully commit to this swap, but I was able to tear down the donor engine and get a closer look. I didn't take pictures for this one, but I do have a whole video on it! I plan on refreshing this thing at home and if at all possible, avoid the machine shop. Overall, the engine is in pretty good shape for the mileage.
