RLC rear tire carrier / swing out / jerry can / custom fab bumper

The Dissent bumper without the swing out is 110LB according to their website.
Tire carrier is 57LB and Jerry can basket holder is another 61LB --- total 228LB.

Perhaps I'm the ignorant one but where's the weight saving of using the lightweight aluminum bumper compare to the all-steel RLC?
i assume part of that is the design. I’m sure if Dissent used all steel it’d weigh even more. Aluminum is about half the weight, but they only use aluminum for some parts

I love them both but the price difference is more than double, and therefore, I'm willing to work out the bug.
Thanks for your well documented progress throughout this thread... very helpful!

@linuxgod - Price is one of the biggest selling points but he's current turn around time is 6 weeks according to James.

@grinchy - Yeah, the mismatched side gap, mounting bracket and the AHC pump relocation are real concern for me.... hmmm
If you’re rocking an LX read the fitment for the ahc pump from milemarker8” earlier in the thread.

Maybe discuss with James extending the length about 1.5” on the wings. I’ll take a pic for you to use as reference.

Thank you!
The AHC pump relocation for LX is my biggest fear… any help or further suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

I did this for the AHC pump.

Here’s what I mean @kwelhand .

If the bumper back was 1” longer, it would go past this bumper cover wing. It would also allow more clearance between the swing and hatch for a table. And the rotopax mount James made me would have enough space for a rotopax.

the mod would be to make the wings 1” longer and push the spindle back 1” as well.

I have a gen 1 lx, so it might look different on others.

Drawback would be the hitch would be recessed 1”, and the swingarm/tire weight would be 1” further back.

On a tlc it wouldn’t need this.

Also, if your topcoat says bare metal application it is lying. Now I have to go back and do rust remediation. Always use an etching primer.

Oh my... sorry to see the rust underneath :(

Thanks for your 1" extension suggestion... makes total sense when looking at your picture!

Mine is 1” longer. Or maybe I mounted it slightly differently or it’s an LC difference. (Not sure if it’s visible in the photo) but mine sticks further past that reflector area than yours.

Note I spaced my wing down about 1” at the wheel well. I think 1.5” would be the “correct” angle to match the crease in the plastic bumper but any further will hit the black plastic roof vent which sits behind that part of the bumper.

I think the tlc has different lights and bumper cover and tailgate.

Could be. My tailgate still contacted the bumper like yours did but that might be because I pushed it as high as the rear would go when I mounted it

Where the heck did you find the worlds largest edge trim? That looks like 1-2" black trim. I cut my plastic when my bumper was mounted crooked, so once i corrected the bumper fit my plastic line is no longer parallel to the bumper anymore. Drives me nuts, but not worth the $$ for new plastic and the having to paint, just to toss out 80% of the plastic. My only solution I could think of would be to cut my plastic in a straight line, but this would leave a big gap between the plastic and the bumper. I've looked hi and low for years now for large edge trim like yours. Most I ever found was like 1/2". Where did you source your trim, that may be the solution to all my problems in life ;)
