Hello! I ditched the factory stereo and amp from my LX450 a while back and replaced it with a double din Atoto, touch screen carplay/andriod auto, with all new speakers. I've discovered that after I drive the rig over long distances, several trips over 2,000 miles, looking down and to the right gets old, and I'd much prefer to eliminate carplay/andriod auto all together and get a single din with bluetooth.

I tried just using the "Bluetooth music" app on the atoto but the quality is horrible.

Anyone have any recommendations on where to start? I'm not a stereo guy, but I have looked at something like this.

I completely agree that the location in our trucks sucks for carplay. I can barely even see the screen on my Kenwood due to glare most of the time. It does sound pretty good though.

I've always wanted to put one of these in the 80. You can get them on ebay but I haven't had the nerve to spend that much money when my radio works. I would love to have a nice volume knob again.

In the same boat. Fitted a double din screen thing that is next to useless. Bought this instead. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CG8N0H8?tag=ihco-20
I am yet to fit it so no idea if it is any good. I still have the little cubby box that was underneath the original radio but i am holding out for single din ham radio to fill the gap.

Not sure I follow why swapping headunits will keep you from having to look over and down so much. You saying you want a volume knob?

That Pioneer looks great.

More so moving away from screen mirroring (android auto, car play) to the head unit.

I have a ram mount, suction cupped to the windshield that holds my phone just above the dash. Navigation is at the top of the dash versus behind my shifter, below the dash on the head unit.

Basically looking for a quality single din head unit so I can use my phone for navigation. But have decent quality audio.
