Cool! Have you lit it yet? I think they are supposed to be green but mine is missing the green boot that slips over the bulb.

I haven't put power to it yet, hopefully this week some time. I do have the green slip cover on my bulb, but as you can see am missing one small knob. I need to find a replacement for that.

I also bought a couple of extra side vents to put in the middle of my dash (the ones that can be turned off) so looking to just pull the dash the one time to install all of it.

Do you happen to know if the NA 60's have the other end of the plug in the harness? Or will I need to cut into my harness to install?

I am still hunting my missing vacuum. I found a pretty egregious leak b/n the carb and the insulator plate on the engine side. Even after putting in new gaskets :(.

So I pulled the carb, again, and have ordered a new insulator plate.

In the meantime I have been chasing a -60070 vsv for some time w/o much success. I confirmed on 'mud that it's really just a switch, apply 12v+ and it passes air. Remove the power and it doesnt, i.e. nothing magical about that particular vsv that means it HAS to be that one or it wont work.

So I raided the pick'n pull on fri.

I came away with 5 vsv's of different configurations, coming from 4Runners, Corollas and a late-80's Tercel.

Busted -60070 on the bottom, tercel on the top.

I also got away with a 115v/100w inverter and switch from a Matrix. Need to figure out how I want to use that though.

It ended up being 1/2 off day as well, double score!

I cut the plug end off the -60070 and did a quick solder job to the plug end of the tercel vsv, then used heat shrink.

It's kind of a tight fit, but should work great. And $3 for a working pnp vsv vs $70 new from Mr T.

Now I just need a day or two of decent weather to pull the manifolds. Again.

I think the remflex gasket has failed me, so I'll pull the manifolds and have them planed and then I'll put it all back together with the new insulator base.

If that doesnt fix my vacuum issue, I am not sure what else to do.

What have you done w/ the carb? I apologize that I don’t remember but had you rebuilt it? I’ll say my truck was a different beast before the City Racer.
Also the remflex if good for some not for others. I do still have a slight leak at my manifolds but it runs really well and I just don’t have the tenacity to pull the manifolds again. If and when I do I plan to add two gaskets I have already. But w/ the spun bearing I just didn’t feel like it. And yup now that it’s cold it’s no fun to be pulling heavy parts and reinstalling them.
Good luck, I’m always watching. I hope it works for you.

I did rebuild the carb, and it went pretty smoothly. I followed the FSM and the video (FJ40jim I think?) On youtube. I believe I did it all correctly, but cant be sure. I'm trying to solve one problem at a time right now. First vacuum, then if that doesnt get me there i'll take a hard look at my dizzy, then my carb.

Unfortunately I am in a smog-control area, so can't go to the City Racer carb.

@Seth_O what happens when you do a okie rebuild? (Carb open and smother the top while bringing up the throttle). Does it stall out? Have you tried it? Your positive it’s the mani mating surface? Carb spray brings up the RPMs? What about the throttle bushing on the carb? I’m sorry maybe I’m being repetitive nothings you’ve already checked previously. I’m at work and can’t look back fully now.

No worries, I really appreciate the help!

Okie rebuild stalls the engine. When I spray carb cleaner around the base of the carb the RPM's noticeably increase. If I spray enough to pool on the insulator plate on the valve cover side i can watch the fluid get sucked up. I think the throttle bushing may be bad as well.

I also got a slight increase in RPM's when spraying at the manifold near cylinder 5.

Sending you a PM.

I had about 90mins of dry time today, so dove in:

Heres what it looks like on a flat surface:

Honestly it doesnt look that bad to me, I would have thought a remflex would have sealed that w/o any issues.

What’s that surface made of? Can you fit a gauge under it per the fsm? Can you force a wobble when pushing horizontally or vertically?

That's my concrete floor in the garage. No wobble, but it looks like the horns are the part contacting the floor, so the edges. Regardless, I am going to get it machined to remove any doubt and allow me to go back to an OEM-style gasket.

I owe @NeverGiveUpYota a big thanks for indirectly pushing me into getting the manifolds planed. I thought they looked pretty good, but when the machinist got back to me he said they were so far out he had to do them before he got them all the way flat.

He got the front of the ears as well, should I be worried about that? Seems like still plenty of meat left, but I really dont want to get in here again. Not sure if I can do anything about it at this point though.....
