Yeah and I’m backward anyhow on the air. Choke chokes the air. Call me a flake.

Funny because in some cases you would be right, there are quite a few carbs that use a 'choke' but in functionality it acts as an enrichener.

If you close the choke, vac goes back to normal?

In regards to rough running....what happens if you remove the vac line to the egr valve and suck on it while the truck is running, will it die? You could also use a vac pump to apply vacuum, but I've found its easy enough to just suck on it and see if the valve is stuck.

That is a rather large vac leak, so I usually assume stuck egr or usually you can hear an audible vacuum leak for a leak that large.

Had a few mins this morning so I knocked out some small stuff: installed closing vents in the center console; swapped my grab handles and rearview mirror for an 80 series; bent up a couple of new upholstery attachment rods since the old ones were trashed; threw the bench seat cover in the washer; and wire brushed and treated the rust on the bench seat frame with a converter.

When I washed the seat cover I found a blown-out seam. Spent the evening watching a movie and stitching it up:

Do you cook too? ;)
Hah! Fortunately my wife is a tremendous cook. I only sewed this up because she "Wont touch that truck stuff." The jobs gotta' get done though...

If you look real closely at it, it's kind of messy tbh. I'm counting on no one looking real close ;)

Did you have to take the dash off to remove the old and install the vents? I haven't got to mine yet either. I thought I read that you have to just rotate the vent 90º and you can pull it out. I tried but it didn't move. Also, i think because the OP but a dash cap on, there is a lip of the cap that seems to prevent the vent from coming out. I was hoping I don't have to remove the dash.

No need to remove the dash. I read that same thing re "rotating" and it's kind of misleading. You dont rotate the vent; push on one side at the 3pm spot until the vent is perpendicular to the flow of air. It will swivel in its socket until the side of the vent is facing you, grab it around the edges and pull firmly. Its a tight squeeze, but it pops out and goes back in the same way.

I heard back from Marc @mwebfj60 today re: my old carb. Turns out it was missing the primary circuit jet on the air horn side. No amount of gasket wizardry was going to fix that.

Heres my interpretation of events: the truck had a severe vacuum leak and a carb in need of a rebuild.

I fixed the vacuum leak, but when I rebuilt the carb I made a rookie mistake and assembled it incorrectly (in my defense the messed up part is not shown in the FSM.)

Now with the properly rebuilt carb + fixed vacuum leaks it runs like a champ, just needs adjusting.

Woot! I’m stoked you sent yours to Marc. Great to know it was something simple to remedy. Congrats!

Work on the 60 had been delayed lately as we've sold the house. Finally got into the new (temporary) location and moved the 60 today.

It was probably the first time the 60's been driven for real in like 10yrs. Drivetrain did AWESOME. Although clearly still in need of a tune, it ran like a champ for the ~10miles I drove.

However, it was like driving a marshmellow. Significant body roll, and squishy steering. I'm thinking bushings, suspension and tie-rod ends? My gearbox leaks for sure.

Can anyone tell me if these are stock springs?

How are shocks? I firmed up the ride on mine significantly (before I put tough dog springs on...) with some new HD shocks.

If you spray some silicone spray on the vents around the edge, they pull out pretty easily - same with pushing in the new ones, wipe 'em down w silicone spray and push them in.

They ain't great, tbh. I think the entire suspension needs an overhaul. It wanders and sways so badly right now that I cant let my kids drive it.
