I'm sure this has been covered on Mud before. This is how gentle use of a buffing wheel with buffing compound and about 30 seconds, Can make your old knobs look new.

So a light buffing then fresh white paint?

Yes, soft wheel, gentle pressure so as not to friction burn and melt the plastic, and a little red rouge compound. If it's good enough for cubic zirconia's It also can work on old Land Cruiser parts. Yes on white paint, but I cheated and used a crayon. Practice on a scratched plastic screwdriver handle first. Hand buff with a soft towel to get rid of the compound smear, for the final wipe down.

I didn't want mine to look too glossy, so I cleaned them and then used "Back to Black" plastic/vinyl dye on them. For the letters, while it is hard to find in these post-typewriter days, I used White-out. It flows to fill the letters nicely.

That is a cool looking knob pardion.

I found some paint pens that work good also. They dispense similar to old fountain pens. You can precisely dispense a drop or hold the tip in a knob letter channel and paint will flow into the groove. Bonus is they are made in USA.
