Well we got the old tub off the frame. Hauled the frame to pressure wash it. Sanded the rust spots, all surface rust.

Got the frame 70% painted with the Chassis Saver from Monstaliner. What good is a restoration project if you don't paint the frame? Zac welded in the holes for the factory running boards and with bondo he will smooth out the spots. So I will say we did good today.

those frame mods are such a good example of doing the wrong thing the right way

Yeah I do really enjoy the beefy crossmember they put in it.

I am curious about the sliders.
@TRAIL TAILOR built those sliders when he owned Gossamer. Nice design that he welded right to the frame. I believe, after stalking his website, he sells the same style only using square stock now. But I am sure he would fab up some using tubes if you asked.

Those were my James Hetfield inspired sliders.... I was playing a lot of Metallica back then on my '73 Gibson ES-335.... HA

If you see something on one of my personal builds it was more than likely a one off "in the mood thing". Like the original front bumper for Goss.

Such a beautiful rig. The owner of that beast is a lucky guy lol. I am going to make it beautiful again. Hey Jason, you got some swing arm pins available? The brass brushings for the ladder are bad. We discovered this when we took the ladder off to roll the frame under the new tub.

So if you ever ask yourself "Is Monstaliner worth it?" The answer is yes. Ended up working longer tonight than I planned.

Well almost done sanding for paint. Jason you have officially made me hate the color red. EVERYTHING IN THE SHOP IS RED! Tomorrow we are going to blow out the shop. Definitely needs some Mars dust removed.

Well during sanding we discovered that the free door I got was rusted through. No big deal, we knew it had some rust which is why it was free. So today I knocked the cobwebs off the welder. I haven't welded anything in about 2 yrs so it was needed. Cut the rusted section out and cut out a replacement piece from the door that got all smashed in on Gossamer. Cut a few lines in the crap door to make a few passes with the welder. It is not a good welding machine by any means. No argon and no way to adjust the amps only the wire speed. Got to a point where I felt ok with it. Welded the section in place. Tomorrow I will finish cleaning it up and make it look pretty. Still hoping to start laying paint down by Friday. @cruisermatt Figured you would like my buddy's welding helmet.

You are more than welcome to come use my machine if you want.

Oh don't worry. Me and Zac have talked about some projects that would require your services.

Let me know! I'd be happy to help.
Yeah we are going to take the red body and put it on that 62 Chassis you saw. We want to cut the top off and make it a 60 truck. So would need to fab up a role bar in place of the B pillars.

That would be fun. You'd need to find someone to bend tube, but I'd be happy to zap stuff together.

Yeah I can get the good old fashioned hand bender from work. Be a good workout day.

I do too. Not sure I would want to be doing thick 2" tube with it though. Good workout.

Finally got the rust hole on the door all done. Welded up, grinded, welded, grinded, welded, grinded, rust proofed, and bondo'd.

Tomorrow we should be laying down some primer.

Lookin good!
Thanks. I have never really done body work before, just always been a grease monkey. At the tech school I went to there were the bondo bitches and the diesel dicks. So learning a lot on this project.
