I own a 92 Standard cab,long bed 4x4. I did a search and looked
to see how you can replace the bench seat with bucket seats.

Has anyone on the board done it, and if so, what is required?

Thanks for the help!

Yup, Toy pickup seats will probably go right in with out any mods except 4 new bolts.... Check for the extra holes in the likely spots... 4Runner seats of the same-ish year might need a little modifying before they go, or you can find some seats that you like and do a custom install.

I have 90 4Runner seats in my 89 4Runner, and all I had to do was enlarge the holes a little bit....

i have done it... i bought some sr5 bucket seats off of ebay i think they were for a fourrunner. the passanger east bolted right in but the driver didnt.

to make it fit all i had to do was make a bracket that was approximatelly 3 inches long. i welded a stud on one end and drilled a hole on the other. because the seat whole and the whole in the body were so close i had to use a die grinder and notch the front bracket so that the seat bracker wouldnt get in the way of the bolt that mounted the 3 inch bracket that i made to the floor. using the end that i had welded the stud on, i slid the seat onto the stud and bolted it down... i had to do this for both front and back. i can get you pictures if you would like. it was very simple and it looks great, it all is hidden under the carpet or under the seat.

oh! i also bought the fourrunner center console to fill the void in between the two seats... once again, bought it on ebay! looks great and wasn't difficult to figure out how to mount.

Long ago I had a 2WD pickup with a bench seat. I swore Toyota designed that thing to get back at us for dropping the bomb on them. It was torture.

Pics would be great. My e-mail is Tvaldriz@pacbell.net. I'd appreciate
it. I really enjoy the truck otherwise. I bought it with a blown headgasket and 251K miles on it so I helped put a rebuilt in it.

Gets good fuel mileage, but man, what torture the bench is.

The bench blows but still allows me to legally transport two children when necessary. I thinking more along the lines of installing bolstering behind the the stock upholstery for bench seat capacity with better support.

well i sent you the pictures via email but im not sure if it went all the way through. if you dont recieve them just tell me and ill put them on here.

Nick:

Checked e-mail and the pics did not make it. Could you post here?

Thanks alot, everyone for your help.

I swapped the bench in my '91 standard cab to buckets from a '92 4-runner.

All 4 bolts will line up on each seat mount, however the inside front hole is a plain hole--and mine did not have the captive nut welded on at the factory. But the bolt hole itself lines up. Easy enough to weld a captive nut back there, or just cut a small hole in the carpet back there and put a standard nut on the bolt.

I love the buckets.

Nice. I would imagine that the legroom would remain the same for the buckets as it was with the bench. True?

sorry about that... well here they are! o and sorry about the really dirty carpet.

Yep, the legroom is pretty much the same. But I've got more than enough (seat all the way back), even with a 10" sub in a box behind each seat. And the jack and tools are in the stock locations. But I don't have an easy place to keep my jumper cables now. :)

T-nick: love the SR5 seats and console. Looks awesome.

SR5 seats will not provide as much legroom in a reg. cab truck as the bench; they are thicker and can't slide back as far.

I put 87 buckets into a '90. Had to enlarge the two rear inside bolt holes just a tad to get everything to line up. No other mods necessary.

sorry for the huge pictures! haha and thanks dan!

so hows it coming?
