These are the last shots. I converted the handbrake down onto the floor.

I also managed to get a fibreglass bezel made of an 1962 original with the words "Land Crusier" stamped into it.

Watrob,
Wow, Your vehicle looks great! The paint job is superb. The seats and steering wheel look really trick and compliment the paint.

A couple quick questions: The air vents on the sides of the cowl look sealed-up. Is that something you did?

Also, the drop-down tailgate is very nice. Is that that stock or aftermarket? Can you post a detailed picture of the latching mechanisms? Where were they sourced from?

Hi, the tailgate is fibreglass.

The hinges are used on aluminium trays and the latch I got are stainless steel from a marine boating supplier.

I believe that is because it is a fiberglass tub. I say that because this is the way most of the tubs in the states look like with the louvers just bubbled.

The truck looks beautiful. I'm very impressed especially done in the timeframe you did it. I think the patrol looks pretty nice as well. I've seen two over here in the states, they are extremely rare. I'm not sure if they were ever imported to the states, there was a yellow one at a LC swap meet several years back at GMU in Northern Virginia. It was a fairly nice looking truck if I recall correctly.

The more pics you Auzzies post up here the more I want to come live in Oz

Rob, looking good, well done ;)

Thanks Teebag,

I am glad its finished, I think the hardest part was getting registered, it started on the 14th Dec 2007 and finaaly got my plates on the 1st Feb 2008.

Queensland Transport made me get a new Vin number because when I hot dipped the chassis in gal they could not read the numbers clearly.

Tthat took a police check to make sure the FJ was not stolen, letter to Qlds Transport from the Police, another inspection. They then sent the new number to Police station, more forms, stamp the chassis with the new number, inpection by Qlds Transport of the new number, then finally registration.

Also because the FJ is all fibreglass, tub etc, also had to have a full inspection by Qld Transport.

Anyway its all done and legal.

Robert

I'm not a fan of fibreglass but despite that, I've got to rate this as one of the best builds POSSIBLE.

And you've accomplished it in such a short time!

Well done

Thanks, yeh a full rebuild in 4 months. The problem is I don't like taking my time. Have this problem when I start something I want to get it finished and start on something else.

Will take the new alloy wheels and tyres up this weekend and fit them and get back into some beach fishing.

Hi, I am up at Teewah Village, see me on the beach every weekend, should'nt miss me, hence the bright colour. You know there are a lot of idiots on that beach, run out infront of you all the time.Oh ya, with all the bad weather there has been about 2-3 mtr deep of beach sand washed off the beach exposing the coffee rock. On Friday night last week at around 8:00pm a Hi-Lux coming back from Double Island hit the rocks at full steam right outside Teewah Village. What a mess, sitting on top of the rocks, 2 head marks in the windscreen, front wheels missing, right off. Lucky to be alive.Robert

Teewah eh? good stuff.. can't say I get up there that often though. it doesnt surprise me to hear the beach is half gone.. It will be interesting to see how fraser island has changed when we head up there in april for a week.

When you go to Fraser Is do you go inland route or up the beach passed Teewah to Doulble Is Point then onto Rainbow Beach?

it all depends on the tides, lately I've just been going via the inland road to get there, but could be persuaded to go via the beach on the way home.. I usually try and head up the night before i go across and camp at inskip. makes things easier and get a head start on your holiday! :p

You were lucky you were'nt up here at Xmas, what a mess, the police sent all the campers home.

You may of missed my other reply, do you think those Hella 4000's would fit in the middle of my ARB Bull Bar, what do you think?
