rear engine mount question

i may be going crazy but ......

im installing a 87 2F into my 77 FJ40

for the life of me i cannot figure out where the rear engine mounts actually atach to the engine

are they different
everything i have read said this engine bolts right in
many posts on that here on mud

The engine does bolt in, but will need to use your FJ40 bell housing, as you found the FJ60 bell doesn't have the mounts.

this was never mentioned

What about using the FJ60 transmission motor mount crossmember under the tranny????

Would be easiest to just find the correct bellhousing at this point. The 60 series cross member is not a direct bolt in. I'm looking for a 3f bellhousing if it had one. Those rotate the T/T down a little on the right side. Not sure if that effects the stock skid plate.

Fj60 crossmember/Trans mount is too wide although with some trimming I fit it in there.

Just grab a 2F bellhousing. Other than shipping weight, they should be cheap

drove to classic cruisers today in Sadalia CO

brandon the owner bought my old 2F with the bell housing
he let me pick it up today
i now have my 77 2f bellhouse ready to go

great place
i have wanted to go there for many years
in 1991 my best friend drove this 79 Cherry FJ40
lots of memories were created in this truck
we did Kane Creek in about 93 in this truck
he later wrecked it and it has been up there for about 15 years
here it is

I try to stop by every time I head up on 285. Last time through I picked up a nice FJ60 front passenger seat and a pair of FJ62 rear speaker grilles. The time before that an FJ40 oil cooler pipe, FJ40 fuel gauge, and FJ40 front seat bracket. There's always something.
