Land Cruiser guy who reaccessed his needs and wants- the needs won out.

94 pickup, 187K, stock everything + some dents. Wish list: 4.7 'case, e-locker, rebuilt rear springs. It'll probably always have 235s and IFS.

This was some Kiwi inspiration from Antarctica- a stockish hilux. Diesel, trayback, body lift, 33s.

You sold your Cruiser.. Blasphemy!

Don't feel bad I did the same thing, it'll serve you well and all of us will be a positive and pushing influence on you I'm sure. :D

p.s. ROFL, your wife looks just like mine does when I do those type of shots.

It's the "Can we get going already and do you really have to sit in a field shooting pics of your vehicle!?" look.

Errr... it's actually my mom- took her out to a local recreation/ wildlife sanctuary area yesterday. She was a cruiserhead herself when she and pops bought a 74 FJ40 new off the lot. She understands. ;)

No offense taken TOMCOLLINS. When I was young, I raced my truck off-road, sand dragged, mud dragged and mud bogged. Now that I am older I just go for Ice Cream.

Here's the 81

Doing some upgrades this year to her... gotta get her ready for the drive down to the Rubicon and back. Perhaps a 2.7 or the 3.4 might get slotted in before hand.

Everything under the cab is Marlin.

Freeze, submit a ROTM or Build thread, I'd love to see the details, especially the bed storage deal.

(For the record - I did pull that F350 turbo diesel out of the sand when it got stuck...)

Thank you ARNDOG123. I am the original owner. I raced it in the 1980's then tore it down in 1990 and built it as you see today. I was always glad I used quality materials and components when I did the build for all I have to do now is maintain and drive it.

CL find: 1987 4runner (SURF) 22RE EFI Turbo

Just purchased. 1987 4runner (SURF) edition. 22RE EFI Turbo, automatic transmission, bone stock; digital instrument panel (COOL!) Very little rust/wear. Hideous red interior (worn but no tears or cracks). 180,000 miles.

I'm more of a LC guy, but have always loved 1st gen 4runners and trucks. How rare is this thing? In this condition? Surf edition? Turbo?

Anyways, I'm a purist. So, no cutting, tubing, huge tires, etc... Maybe some BFGs AT or TM.

Thoughts?

Daniel

Yeah, I read on wikipedia where these sr5 turbos came with the heavier rear cases (offered with the V6 runners). It goes on to say that these (turbos) were produced only a couple years but the SURF sr5's had the all digital dash. I personally have never seen an all digital dash like this.

Anyone else noticing that this is either one of the first batch ran for international export or a body swapped cab? That's a 3rd-Gen Hiux/Pickup chassis, look at the front suspension and steering, same as on the 2nd-Gen 4Runners.
