I appreciate the info. That is the reason I have not purchased from spectre yet because they are way out there. I wonder if there are any good chrome plating companies out there that are reasonable? RG
If you have a three speed floorshift type of shifter (not the vacuum type) the only difference between the operating rod to the shift fork is the length. So, if you're desperate, it's probably possible to make a longer input rod for the three speed shift assembly out of steel stock. It needs about 2" more length to work with the four speed floor shifter.
Is it a for sure thing that the 3 speed shift mechanism won't work with 3 speed floor shifter? I doubt it. Both shift exactly the same way inside the front tail housing.
There is a guy selling 5 on ebay, they appear to be fairly clean and are extremely cheap. I thought about buying them for posterity, but decided to stick with my 16" wheels. Hope this helps.
Note: I just noticed that he took the "Buy it Now" option down. This past weekend he was asking $125 for the set. He is willing to ship and have the tires removed from the wheels if you are not interested in them.
I need a rear output shaft for a 76 fj40 with the high gear. I'll take whole output shaft assembly if you will not part out. My high gear has slop. I have a feeling it will just get worse and wear out new idler shaft and grenade.
I have this set off of my 77. They work fine and I only replaced them because they started to throw grease on my rims and they were looking bad. Insides are good. You can have them if you like.
