The time is coming very soon to replace my radiator. I had the current one serviced a month after buying it in May of 06'. So I would like to hear from you guys on what you have done or would do with your radiator.

So making a poll but curious to understand the difference between the 93-94 radiators and the 95-97 ones. Is it just the plastic tops on the later models or is it the difference between aluminum and brass?

I am in a similar situtation and looking to replace mine. It is the original and the plastic top is looking ill. I was leanin gtoward the Koyo early brass version.

The 1917 was a perfect fit on my 94, plastic top tank, etc. Its got 15k miles on it now without any problems, but that doesnt tell you too much. If it lasts another 85k I'll let you know!

3 months ago I would have said OEM early brass all the way. That is until I found a small leak in the bottom seam of my 3 year old 38K mile 94' brass rad I bought from CDan. I fully expected to get 100K miles out of it so was in disbelief when I found the leak.

I found the leak on a Friday afternoon and was planning a desert trip on Sunday so was short on time and ended up getting a NAPA radiator for $215 with a lifetime warranty. I probably would have gone with the KOYO if I had more time but I did not want to miss the trip. We'll see how long the NAPA lasts.

I think one is 3-row and the other is 4-row. I think the 95+ is more expensive.

I have a 93/94 on my 97 and it seems to work well. I put in a Koyo (with a lifetime warranty) from Radiator Barn (about $250) in my old 94. Worked flawless for 3 years until I sold it. I assume still going strong. If I needed a radiator, I wouldn't hesitate to get another Koyo.

Edit: Not sure what model Koyo it was.

Had a nice little visit with John & Darryl at SD Trux this afternoon. While Darryl was taking care of my Pesky Heater Hose (What's the big deal? He had it done in no time!) I asked John about radiators. He recommended going with the later model Koyo aluminum radiator as opposed to the brass. So the clock is ticking and I will have to quickly save my pennys. OK really I just need to wait a few months before I $pend more on the Cruiser to keep the :princess: happy.

P.S. Why you guys rack your knuckles on that PHH when John and the boys can get you done for just over a Benjamine is beyond me. I have better things to do like build a cargo sleeper to use next weekend!

Hey Mark what radiator did you end up using? did you end up using any foam? my current radiator looks like its ready to go any day now. I just picked up a Koyo C1917 and some hoses but after reading other installs I don't know how important it is to have foam on the front and between the shroud like the oem radiator comes with. I'm probably going to have a shop install it for me along with the PHH so i've been trying to round up all the parts they might need.

I replaced mine with OEM brass which, I believe, is the 93/94. Aluminum after that IIRC from my discussion with CDAN.

Picked up a C1917 yesterday to replace the second NAPA I put in. Plan on installing next Friday.

This will be my 4th time swapping one of these out so I think I can do it blindfolded now.

Sweet! I will blind fold you and put you in front of my truck!

I still have to do my radiator but with the commuter car now and a house under remodel it's not a priority.

Bring it over and we can knock it out in a few hours. I work for :beer::beer:.

Just tell the :princess: you are going to Home Depot for remodeling supplies.

I'm seriously thinking about giving Ron Davis a call about an aluminum rad in the future...prolly will need to provide them a proto to build a factory fit, but I'm so tired of changing these. And, I've been using Mr. T's red coolant through the years with changes every year, only to go through 3 in ten years...DD, but no abusive patterns in driving. No blown HG or other damage as these were all caught really early and close to home. I might be changing rides for a hundy in a few months, so that will force a delay on the decision. We'll see.
