Folks my 86 4runner radiator has seeped since owning it...... I know I'm being anal but since owning it I have been putting a TON of miles on it.

Any advice as to where to purchase a radiator from ....... I called Toyota (ouch)

Any after market advice...... internet has a ton of sites with varied $$$$

Thanks..... I searched but no vendor advice.

Oh yea: daily driver, no lift, no wheeling planned for it.

I have used Radiators at Radiators.com: Car Radiator, Auto Radiators, Performance Radiators, Automotive Radiators several times now, no issues after many years and miles. The radiators are not quite OEM quality, but they are a LOT cheaper. They are AMAZINGLY fast at delivery, the last time I ordered one in the morning, it was on my porch when I got home from work that evening.

The on-line sales drone is fun to mess with, but it gets annoying really fast, it will want you to schedule a location to have it installed. I always just call the number and talk to a real person.

I'm looking for a new, all brass radiator (stock replacement) for my '88 minitruck and all I'm finding is that plastic tank with crimped aluminum core junk. A buddy races a Corolla and uses an aftermarket all aluminum radiator that costs about $150 IIRC. I'll be checking with the affiliated OEM Toyota parts dealers too and pass on what I learn. How much were you quoted at the dealer you called? Which dealer? It's probably better to "ouch" in the wallet at home then "ouch" in a more delicate part of the anatomy when the cheapie plastic/aluminum junk takes a dump out in the boonies. A blown head gasket from overheating is the inevitable result, a penny wise/pound foolish compromise IMHO.

$660.00 from a local Toy dealer...... again I totally agree but paying 1/4 of what paid for the truck seems crazy:meh:

I just replaced my radiator (4 weeks ago) with one from Advance Auto.

All alum. and actually larger (in depth) that the stock. Fit sperfectly fine, weld looks good etc.

150.00.

My Toyota one lasted 17 years so not sure of the quality comparison.

But I feel it is a good alternative.

The truck radiators I have bought from the above source have all been brass. The one I bought last summer for my daughter's Corolla was plastic/aluminum, but so was the factory OEM one that it replaced.

When we installed my new DOA racing engine 2 years ago, my mechanic bought a new radiator from one of the parts houses. It's either brass/plastic or aluminum/plastic, I haven't really looked at it that closely.

I ran across this thread later and made a mental note to contact Roger Brown (4Crawler) to see if he ever installed this all aluminum one off ebay. The photo no longer shows and the ebay link is gone but it looked pretty good at the time and the price was right. I haven't searched on ebay lately to see if I can find them.

I bought a plastic/aluminum one when I did my turbo. Fits perfect. It's a little smaller than stock but you would never know it by looking at the gauge (mechanical).

Dont buy an all brass csf radiator from auto radiator outlet. On the positive side I am forced to replace my coolant once a year when i discover a leak and they send me a new one. it always springs a leak where the (unused) tranny cooler line enters or exits. I long for the trouble free days of my factory aluminum/plastic radiator.

It's probably about $400 from 1sttoyotaparts.com or one of the other discount Toyota Dealers.

I got more old beat down toyota trucks and parts donors than the Taliban army so i never get to buy NEW parts i just throw another 20 year old oem one in

I run a 3 core CSF (turbo radiator, vs the 2 core which came in my '86 22re truck), The copper is fairly thin, but for $130, im not complaining. Its been in 2 trucks, and is 3 years old.

Radiator barn.com has one for $181.

I was pissed at my truck (I drove an hour ahead of woody on my way to surf n turf because the truck was overheating coming out of vegas), and ended up doing the radiator, shroud, fan clutch, t-stat, and hoses at the same time.

And I am still under $350 into the cooling system. This is why I love building mini trucks. :D

I have a barely used performance radiator 3 row Im trying to let go for $50 and shipping on your dime. Pm me if interested.

You good sir have a PM!
